| The finish line is near, but... ok, I have been in contact with my vet and my mentor, and both tell me all is normal. I am however the worlds biggest worrywart, esp when it comes to my baby. Bridget is now 59 days pregnant, (due march 8th) Her temp has steadily dropped since last night, At first it started off a bit low, (but I think I hit poo) but went up to 99.5, since then it has stedily gone down to where it is now at 97.6. I have notified my vet to be on call, and my mentor to let them know where we are at. From my knowledge I should see labor begin within the next 12 or so hours. Ok now for my question, Bridgets belly around the lower nipples has become red, My mentor says it is just the body getting ready for milk development, I however, and still worried, and would like to hear confirmation from all of you. My oh my, I am one nervous mommy, but we are set and ready to go, and thank goodness for a great vet that has given me her home number in case something does not go as planned. I will keep you all posted but info on the nipples whould be great.. Thanks Brandi

| Whelping.. It is NOT unusual for my females to have a drop in their temp. more than once before whelping.. Infact a couple of mine their temp. has dropped twice before whelping.. When I notice the first temp. drop I start taking their temp. alittle more regular, maybe every 2-3 hours so that I can notice if it rises again.. Is this her 59th day from the first breeding or the last? It also sounds like her mammary glands are just getting ready for the soon to be newborn pups! Is your female eating at all? Please keep us updated!! Good thoughts are being sent your way!! |

| It is 59 days from the first breeding, and yes she has eaten a bit early this morning but nothing since. I have been watching her like a hawk, and although she seems uncomfortable, does not seem to be in that restless stage as of yet. I think I just worried about the nipples becasue they began to look so diffrent. So how often can the temp rise and drop before we know for sure, I was planning on leaving her alone for a while on the temp as she hates, the thermometer, of course I would to if it were being stuck there.lol Thanks for the advice and knowledge...keep it comming

| So color me Frustrated!!!! Ok, so we are on the 4th day of watching closly and still no babies. I cannot believe how huge the Bridget has become gaining almost 2 lbs. since we fiirst started this venture. Her temp has droped, come back up, droped again and then again back up so many times now I am begining to think that the temp is far from a positive sign for her. Just this morning I was sure we would be delievering puppies tonight and then yet again I am back were I started. This wouldnt be so bad, but I am seriously a nervous wreck, I have hardly slept, everytime Bridget moves I wake up to make sure she isnt getting squished or delivering pups without my knowledge.Does this happen to anyone but me????Help, I am waiting for pups and am slowly going crazy. Wow if this is this bad, I am banning my skin babies from ever having children...LOL

Your getting a taste of what it is like to become a breeder and how serious this can be for the loving pet person breeding thier beloved Yorkie. I always try to discourage them, in hopes to save them grief just incase something goes wrong. I never rely on temp taking as you can see sometimes it only makes you worry more! Watch for the plug to come. This will tell you time is very near and dear! As some eat before and during the whelping so this is not a sign either. NO VET can tell from an X-ray if a bitch can free whelp or the size of the puppies when born! I surley cannot believe your vet made this statement! Good Luck!

| pups The birthing of human babies is a walk in the park compared to puppies. You have every type of professional the ER, the hospital, doctors and specialists...with our puppies most of the time it is just you and your little mom and she is depending on you to make all the right decisions for her and her litter.. Xrays give you a general idea of what is going on...I have seen tiny ones with a head the size of agreen grape refuse to come out and small "ponies" spurt out like a watermelon seed. Good Luck |
