| Whelping Questions???? Ok, She-Ra and Harley have successfully tied today. I am not getting my hopes up, yet. But I have a few questions... what do I need for a whelping kit. Last time I has some surgical gloves, Ky Lub, towels, sterilized scissors, water, and a few more. Is there more to have?? I am going to call his aunt closer to time, she will be here in case I need her. What whelping book do you guys recommend? Oh, I am trying not to get excited but it's so hard!!!!

| Don't forget a bulb syringe for removing fluid from mouth and nose. Have a heating lamp or pad to keep pups warm between births. Hemostats to clamp umbilical cords before cutting and tying. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. Good Luck

| I actually got a hemostat from a fishing supply store. Also I recomend lots of washclothes- I used white ones so I could make sure the stuff on the pups wasn't a strange color.. and the washclothes are smaller and easy to use when cleaning up. Good luck edited to add, I got the cheap washclothes that come in a pack of 10 or so at wallmart, they are thinner and easier to use, and cheap enough to throw away. |

| Please make sure to hold your female during a tie...they can drag each other around and get injured.

| HeHe!!!!!!!!!!! he is having a lot of funnnnnnnnn. You will soon have some babies for sure. Silk is supposed to come in about April (I think) and Ceeby will be old enough to register but I am going to hire her a stud. She has champion bloodlines and I'm afraid ceeby will shoot blanks the first time because he is so young. i don't want to miss her getting bred. |

| Amanda, Hope you get babies soon! My Little-Bit is due around the 17th of March. I am getting excited. Little-Bit is 7 lb, my male is 4 lb., I had to put him on two pillows, he has such short legs. This was his first time and man, did he have fun.

Anyway, yes, I tie them off about an inch from the pup's belly and cut the cord (with non-sharp child's scissors) on the bitch's side. The floss hardens up and falls off with the cord.

Give it time...she may be just not showing anything yet. Maybe she has just a couple and they are small right now. Does her stomach feel like it's getting hard, (tight) ?
