| Ultrasound ok, so today we went in for Bridgets ultrasound, she is about 25 days since her first hook, and we could see only one sac. The vet felt definatly one puppy, maybe two, which is fine with me as I was hoping for a small litter for her first time. Can others give me some of your experiance with your bitches first litters, how they did etc, etc. I have a mentor, but just want to hear the other sides...lol thanks

| Trixie had an ultra-sound at 50 days. (She had a lot of fluid and the x-ray was just not showing up.) Her first litter went pretty much as close to textbood as possible...my nerves on the other hand... I am sure you will do just fine. Keep us posted! |

| You probably already have this lined up, but I would suggest you have an x-ray done about a week before due date to measure pelvis and pups and count pups. If she is only having one it may grow too large for whelping naturally and require a c-section.

| Marlee and Debbi, We're right behind you. Madie is 21 days and Roxie is 14. It should be fun to see how everyone else's goes. Madie has her ultrasound tomorrow. I'll let you all know how that turns out.

| Firrst, congratulations to each of you. And, second, please do as Sylvan said and have an Xray done within a week of the due date,. I do not have ultrasounds done as I don't get any usuable info from them at such an early stage.. How many puppies and how large they are is sooo important near whelping date to make sure I have all current information... It helps to bring the Xrays home--I swear, if one of mine has a problem it is in the middle of the night and we end up at the ER with a deposit of a thousand dollars. So, my Xrays help keep 'em honest.. |
