The Yorkie is a toy breed. Any purebred breed can go oversize. Yours will be an oversize but very well likely it is a purebred. Yours could end up 12 lbs or even bigger.

Default AKC Suspension List

I've been a yorkietalk member for a while but don't get a chance often to get on here. Here's some general info for everyone.

AKC publishes the new suspension list every month in the AKC Gazette. It's towards the back of the magazine. Since it changes constantly, those sticky's some were referring to are kinda useless (in my opinion). I subscribe to the Gazette every month, that's how I know.

Hope this helps.

Love AKC suspension list

Great information as those of us whom have had issues purchasing puppies want to be as careful as possible. I have read about nightmare breeders and experienced it myself.Does anyone have any good advice on how to handle a breeder that is making threats?

Default breeder

What type of threats...? IF it is regarding the dog in question...papers, breeding rights, contract dispute, etc, you would go in one direction..a threat against you, family, home etc, would be another direction.

But next time if I ever get another one, I'll be sure to check out that web site and take my time at finding another one. You be come more and more experienced the longer you have yorkies and know what to look for.[/quote]

That is so true....I got my first Yorkie 37 years...What did I know...nothing.
Thankfully he was healthy and lived 17 1/2 years. None seem to be as healthy anymore, or live as long.

Standards as far as standards for the breed? Yes, CKC follows the standard as set by AKC. They are not as stringent in alot of areas as AKC and definately have their flaws. However, there are unethical breeders in ANY registry, including AKC, just as there are good breeders in any registry. Of course, everyone has their preference, and it's not hard to figure out why in alot of cases.

(In any case, shouldn't this 'warning' include other "lesser" registries as well? ACA, ICR, etc?)

Do any of the other registries have a "suspended list"?

Couldn't tell you...I am not an expert as to the inner workings of every existing registry. I would suggest contacting them and asking, I guess...?

You are right about that, I am sorry if I mad anyone mad, Did not mean to. It does all depend on the person doing the breeding and how they take care of there records and babies, Thanks Denise

You didn't make me mad at all. I didn't mean to start yet another pointless AKC vs Other Registries debates.

This is a very informative thread and hopefully will continue to serve as such.
