| OFA Certification for LP How many breeders do OFA certification on their foundation Yorkies? Why or why not? I do not do OFA certification at this time. I have all of my adults carefully evaluated by my vet who is the one that educated me about LP and has experience with canine reproduction including genetics. To date I have not produced LP in a puppy. The chance of producing LP is always there because of the genes but I feel that I have lessen the chance to produce it. At this time I don't feel to OFA my foundation is neccessary however, I'm not set in my ways. I'm always looking for ways to better my program if OFA would do that I would certainly incorporate it....others thoughts on this please? |

| We did not have any LP certification done for our 2. We have had them thoroughly screened and a statement from our vet that they are free from the condition. We encourage potential buyers to contact our vet with any questions and invite them to come with us when we take the pups for vaccinations/exams. That seems to work fine for us. If I had a more extensive breeding program, I might consider it, but for the time being, we don't feel it is neccessary. |

| Our Gizmo is OFA certified regarding his patellas. Not sure if you would like more info or not....he has a cert and you can look him up on the OFA site. The rest of ours were just looked at by the vet and we didnt go as far as getting the cert. Really it's the same thing - only the vet signs something and you send it in. We only got it for our Gizmo because we use him for stud service and knew it would be something people would be interested in. I hope I helped!
