First time pregnant yorkie 37 days Hi my baby girl my bestest friend an like my third daughter is expecting her first litter , I found out ten days ago by my vet who palpatated her belly that my baby girl is expecting at least three puppies , anyhow she's on day 37 and now her belly is very firm and large and she has started not wanting to sleep in our bed with me , she keeps jumping down and sleeping in the whelping box then next to my children and moving back with us its like she's really uncomfortable and I just wanted to know if that's normal at this stage, she'll be 58 days on the 25th of this month so she's due between the 25th and the 31st she also sounds here in there like she's breathing heavier but my friend said its just due to her getting bigger with the puppies . Anyhow just thought I'd ask if those two items are normal and Id love to know what anyone else suggests feeding her as she's the pickiest dog ever!! She barely ever eats hard food and I've got her on dick vanpattinsens dog food roll its a full feed or mix in food, she loves it ! So I'm giving her that us leaving out the dry kibble that she won't touch , I've tried cottage cheese in she hates it , I've given her some tillamook mini bites of cheddar just for a treat or a string cheese not a whole one of course anyhow Id love all advice

On day 58, when you get your abd. xrays, just be sure to measure puppy heads and pelvic ring to make sure she will be able to pass the pups thru the birth canal. Your vet SHOULD be able to do this!!!!! Have him show you how it is done, so you will know. Try to find a puppy food she will eat....kibble or canned, for the additional nurishment she needs for the pups. Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 03-05-2015 at 11:08 PM.

Yes....they get restless and they get funny about eating too! They grunt and moan and snore when they sleep...they are getting uncomfortable...she is a good breeding size, but her pelvic ring is what is important. The vet can palpate the width of her ring, but he needs to look at pup heads on xray to measure them in ratio to ring size....do you know what your little male throws as far as size goes?

Any pups yet? Reading your first post it sounded to me like she was pretty uncomfortable for only 5 weeks. Thought she might be further along or has lots of puppies. Please update when she has her babies. Just curious.
