when should i tape yorkies ears Hi my yorkie just had her first liter 2 weeks ago and was wondering when is a good time to start helping them with getting their ears up. The fathers ears are up but the moms is not. When I bought my female the same thing was with her parents dads was up moms wasn't I was hoping hers would go up and I tried shaving them taping with no success her ears are just to big. So I was wondering how I can start the process I don't want to do it to early or to late thank you

Start by shaving hair off tiny ears....you may not ever need to tape them.....but it could easily take them until they are 10-14 weeks before they stand erect. You can usually see them getting higher and higher, where just the tips are flopped over....in those cases I have not had to tape at all....they will stand erect. If moms ears never stood erect, and it was because her ear leather was too thick, your baby's ears may not ever stand erect, even with taping. If I can see ears are not even beginning to try to get up, then when around 8-10 weeks old, I may start taping....I keep my babies until they are 14 weeks old so I can wait longer to tape ears....I like for ears to go up without me taping if possible.

I start shaving the hair off the outside of those tiny ears at 3 weeks old.....and I keep it shaved off. As they get older, I move up the ear to the correct top 1/3 of the ear.

I keep my puppies until they are 14 weeks old,,,,when they go to their new homes, I have moved up to the top 1/3 of the ear.....I judge when to go up the ear according how well the ear is standing....usually by 10 weeks, I am only doing the top 1/3 of the ear.
