| Jumping around while Pregnant?!?! Just wondering if it's ok for my baby girl to still jump on and off the couch while she's pregnant....she's about 43 days into her pregnancy and has been running around with 2 other bigger size dogs...she seems to miss them alot when i seperate them..her in the living room and the others in the kitchen but I get so scare when she's running around with them and jumping on and off the couch.... |

| I would think jumping and running around would not be good. That is why I am glad I am not a breeder. Trying to keep a dog from what it naturally does was hard enough after the spay and neuter surgeries.

| Hattie (bless her) played fetch with her kong on a sunny august day about 4 hours before she whelped her litter. Exercise is very good, playing is good, jumping is where Im cautious. Her last week she couldnt manuver the stairs very well so I carried her up and down so she wouldnt fall or slip.

Yorkies are so little and they may seem so athletic and able to jump high and all but it is really not good for them and can cause injuries and possibly arthritis later in life. Stairs to get onto furniture is a good idea. I once read that they shouldn't jump onto or off of anyhthing that was higher than their shoulder which seems a little extreme but is some guideline. A couple of mine are training in agility and I know the jumps are a little higher than that so....I don't know. | |
