| Thoughts on this breeder...??? Puppies are 7 weeks old, AKC registered. The two for sale were brought into the house and placed in a play pen. They seemed to be well socialized and were clean. The parents and other puppies were behind the house in a kennel (building). We did get to meet both parents but were not taken to the kennel. The puppies have had no shots but will have the first set by the time they go to their new homes (8-10 weeks). The health guarantee was only for congenital defects if found on the first vet visit (within 72 hours). No genetic screening had been done on the parents. Breeder claimed 20 years experience breeding yorkies. One thing that "rubbed me the wrong way" was that when she spoke to us over the phone, she said her males go for $700 and her females go for $800. When we got there, she told us the smaller female (prettiest, ears up, etc.) was $900 and the other was $800. She seemed like a nice lady other than that and seemed to love her yorkies, but I got the feeling that the dogs don't stay in the house. We both fell in love with the puppies, but I guess from the research I've been doing, I'm not sure this is the best environment. I would love to hear your opinions on this situation.

| Is there any way you can check with the BBB to see if any complaints have been filed??? Just an idea...or maybe ask her for some references and speak to some others who have bought her puppies before..or her vet??

| 72 hrs guarantee on genetic defects is no guarantee at all. Especially since parents were not tested. Reputable breeders give one year, many problems do not show up for months. I personally disagree with keeping dogs away from the day to day bustle of a household and treating them like livestock instead of family members. jmo. Price is cheap...you get what you pay for. |

| Could you maybe ask her is she is in contact with anyone that has bought one of her puppies from previous litters (of the same parents), that you may able to talk with? That certainly is no guarentee but it shows that she's not ashamed of her pups. Of course keeping them outside is not the ideal thing for socializing puppies, but unfortunatly some breeders do. The price isn't too high, if it was any higher I would think that she is just in it for the money. Just because she's been breeding for 20 years doesn't mean a whole lot. But if your comfortable with her and the puppies, there isn't any reason why you shouldn't buy. Are you just buying for a pet or do you have other ideas, (showing?) Are they AKC? There is a suspension list you could check to see if she is on it or not. Let us know if you decide to get her/him...

| I appreciate the responses. I guess I was hesitant about the breeder; I need to remember to always trust my instincts. We're really just looking and doing our research right now. Even though we may have already found the breeder we're going to use, we thought it was wise to do some comparing.
