| Breeders Web Site Hi, Fellow Yorkie Lovers, This is my 1st post, and I do not like being negative and suspicious, BUT... after spending some time on your amazing site , I've learned the meaning of "Buyer Beware" in a heart-breaking way. Our babies are too important not to seek your knowledge and insight. "New Jersey Breeders" (newjerseypuppiesforsale.com) is a website that appears with just about any other state before the word "Breeders" - same dog listings, though. But aside from that misleading practice, some of the puppies there don't look like the breed they're purported to be. On p. 1 of the Yorkie section, almost listed first (they are ordered according to price) is "Vixey". Take a look; is this a Yorkshire Terrier? Further down the same page are other, older pups that have faces of a terrier, though not a Yorkie. There are other puppies that look so sad, or perhaps sick or ill-cared for. Anyway, I e-mailed them, citing my concerns about dogs like Vixey, and asking how they vet their breeders. It's too soon for them to have replied; in the meantime, I came to you. Any response with thoughts, opinions, or concerns is welcome, esp. since I'm such a novice. I am, however, owned and well-cared for by a beautiful, 13-year-old Yorkie girl named Rudy, the 3rd Yorkie in my life; her BFF Chippy, age 15, broke our hearts 2 years ago when he went to Heaven after being ill for 4 months. So, like you, I love Yorkies with a passion, esp. my own. Thank you so much! Barb |

| Welcome to YT, Barb! You have landed smack dab in the middle of hundreds of like minded Yorkie lovers specifically, pet lovers in general....Are you searching for a new member for your family? You have, in your very first sentence, articulated the very most important thing you can learn....Buyer Beware! If you are actively searching for a new pup, attend shows, chat with show breeders, research, research, research....know what a Yorkie SHOULD be, SHOULD look like....if you see a breeder with pups that dont even LOOK like a Yorkie, dont even go there! ANY list of breeders you come across, anyplace, has the potential of having "bad apples" included in the group. You have to "sweep and cull" breeders from any list you are looking at.....word of mouth from people that have purchased from a breeder....that have had their baby for a year or more, because THAT is someone, who if there have been any issues with their baby, they would have shown up by then probably, and you will get an idea of HOW the BREEDER worked with the owner....buy your breeder first, and the breeder will have your baby..... |

| Thanks for your reply! Buy your breeder first...I love that! Much wisdom, new Yorkie buddy! I will begin an earnest search in Sept., when I return home (FL) from NJ, where my son is getting married (he is the only one I love more than my Yorkie). Right now, it's research, then research some more. I have a breeders' list - at least one - from The YTCA (did I get that right?) or AKC website. I saw 2 breeders recommended by this site as well. I've spent a lot of time looking at rescue sites, too. No hurry, really, except I'm all worked up now, dizzy in the midst of a Yorkie "high"! Oh, yes, almost forgot those little-tongue kisses full of sweet puppy breath! |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Welcome to YT. Yorkiemom1 is one of our YT elders all kidding aside she has a lot of wonderful knowledge. The YTCA website is a great start. I definitely agree you buy the breeder. Take your time and ask a lot of questions. Reputable breeders welcome the questions and will have a bunch for you. Good luck in your search

| Hello, I checked out your website and noticed that star yorkie is on it. I just wanted to let you know that they have a very poor reputation. You might want to check them out. Good luck. Gayla Hutton gaylakh@aol.com |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | He seems to keep missing the point that QUALITY breeders don't advertise or sell their dogs through sites like his. They have no need to .
