| I can recommend several very good breeders to you, but I don't think that any of them have any that will stay that small. Are you dead set on a 3 pounder? Just curious...but I will be willing to help anyway that I can. And what a fine city you live in, I must add! |

have you read all you can about having one that small ? This site is a great place to start and learn because having one that small is a big responsibility - and can be very expensive too.... The standard weight yorkies are very small to begin with - have you thought of looking for average weights rather than set your heart on a really tiny one ? You'll find the prices go up as size goes down....Good luck

So true. Yorkies are wonderful little dogs whether they weigh 3 lbs or 10lbs. If you don't have alot to spend, you should stop looking for a "tiny" now. I hate to say that, but it is true. I hope you find a yorkie in general, you will be happy with the yorkshire terrier personality regardless to it's size. Best wishes to you!

| Yes, I will agree that it is hard to find a Yorkie in Alabama for what many consider a reasonable price. I know very good breeder near Ft. Payne that has smaller dogs...but mind you NOT what are considered 'tinies.' Along the 5-6 pound range for the average size. I would imagine a runt would be smaller...maybe something you are looking for. I can PM you his info if you are interested. I do want to offer some advice though on reading up regarding standard weight and potential health problems, as I am sure you will/already have. It will do nothing to benefit you to gain all the knowlege you can on the breed. Just let me know. |

The majority of breeders with tinies only aren't going to have show dogs anyway, as the tinies aren't a good speciman for a show dog. When you approach a breeder of only tinies, they are going to see you as dollar signs. Just look for a nice 5-7 lb baby at maturity and enjoy the many years of happiness it will bring you!

| Have you ever seen a full grown 5 pound Yorkie in person? They are a lot smaller than people realize. You can enjoy them more than a tiny 3 pounder. I heard people with the real tiny ones that have to keep them confined all the time to avoid any accidents from normal day to day activities. Jumping off a bed or a couch can be tragic for a 5 pounder, just think, with a 3 pounder the accident can prove deadly. I say if you want a Yorkie, get on you can enjoy. Something 5 pounds or more. Good luck in your search! Irene |

| The thing is,is that i wanted i have about 650.00 that i have saved up.and i know that i can get a ''regular'' size pup for that price but i kinda did want a smaller one.and yes i do know most of their health problems and i know that there vet bills can be very exspensive. we had a miniature shih tzu for 5 years, and two full blooded pugs one is 3 years old and the older just past resently from complications that it had when it was younger.she had got heart wormswhen she was younger..so we treated it.it was very stressful for our family and her.and then she got rid of it and she recovered. until this past year she had been doing great.then about two weeks ago we found her outside and was asleep and wouldnt move.the doctors said that she wasnt suposto live that long because most dog that get heart worms and recover from it only have 1 or 2 more years to live..but she lived to be almost 12 years old. i loved that dog with all my heart and it was my fathers dog. i just wanted to get a dog that i could attach to and love and be apart of the family.. but yes i have done my research on yorkies and all of their health problems and i know that they need a lot of attenchen.and i still am determined to get on despite what ohters are going to say..lol and yes i would like for you to send me that info on the pup's i really appreciate it! Thankyou! ~Dixie~ |
