| http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...new-group.html I have 2 new rehomed yorkies Tiffany and Tucker. I'm a little upset in the condition my babies were in when I got them Tiffany is 18 mo old and Tucker is 6 yrs old. I'm kinda at a loss on what to do =( Tuckers teeth are soooo bad and both need a groomer. Tuckers ears have no hair and his hair on his paws is sparce So, are Tiffany and Tucker are your new breeding pair, or are you using a different set of dogs to begin your Yorkie breeding program?

There are also breeder members of the YTCA listing, that might know of a small study/breeders group that could be local to you. It sounds like the first order of business is to get a very full health check done on both these two. I am assuming you got all their previous vet records, and Cerf certifications, LP assessment, prior BAT test results. Last brucellosis test results? Have either or both of these two been Chic'd yet - on the canine health information registry? Do you have the health lineage history for this pair? Just curious why do you want to breed Yorkshire Terriers? I always point new members who wish to breed the YT to our Sick and Emergency section. It is a very good eye opener on the health problems with-in this breed. And there are more than a few. There are articles in our Library here, one very good one is How to find a Reputable/Responsible breeder.

| Yes Tiffany and Tucker were bought for Breeding but now I'm having second thought For Sure! They'll be vetted today. And will more then likely be the prince and princess of the house! I'm sorry if my lack of knowledge has offended anyone was not my intent |

| Oh my goodness! There is no way you offended anyone! It's just that there are so many considerations involved in breeding Yorkies. It's mainly because they are so tiny and delicate, and the smaller they are, the more chance of problems. I, for one, appreciate that you came here to learn. Find an easy chair and a cup of tea, and start scanning the library. You will be amazed at all the info. Best wishes at the vet today!

I'd think my concerns are grounded in that you found them in poor condition The male is 6yrs old - hair loss problems. At least two thoughts strike me; where and how often and with whom has he mated. What is causing the hair loss. ? Many things could, and some of them serious. I would start with a Full Blood Panel. Full physical exam + LP evaluation. THen once those results are in and he passes with flying colors. Semen Analysis. Also a Bile Acids Test. Your vet should know how to do this one. THen onto another whole series of tests. I do have some threads on here about health tests for Yorkies.

I think I'm more hurt then anything else!! The lady I bought my kiddos from was like a mentor to me, I had? Have? A lot of respect for her. My feelings are if you have a dog you CARE for it and it stays in the house!!one of the family, Kids, Loves of your life!! If your going to breed to take all the steps to ensure you have HEALTHY babies no matter the cost. I took Tiff to the Groomers yesterday I knew she was a doll under the uneven cut she had (I was so very right!) =) Her little smile just melts my heart. She watches out for Tucker you can tell there is a real bond with them ( I know it sound silly) Tiff didn't look as bad as Tucker My Prayer is that once I get them vetted and ok'ed to get him groomed he'll surprise me like Tiff did. I wish I knew how to post pics =( | |

I wish I knew how to post pics =([/QUOT E] How To Post Pictures Oh gosh in the Forum called Yorkie Pictures there are some instructions. My attempt to link it right here on your thread failed...sigh You are very correct. Unless there was some major illness and other catastrophies over the last few years it is hard to fathom the condition they are in. It is going to be pricey to bring all their pre breeding health screenings up todate. Very easily $500 each. Is your gal underweight do you think? You might want to have them evaluated by an experienced Yorkie breeder as well in terms of the YT standard. You are in Wyoming. I think we have a few members maybe a breeder that is located in Wyoming. Also if you go to www.akc.org, and you can look up shows in Wyoming and see if any are closer to you. I am geographically challenged but we have some good Canadian breeders in British Columbia - not sure if that province is far away from you or not. My Fair Lacy, Gemy, Brooklyn, CarlyBaby, Topknot, Maggies2007 or is it MaggiesMom2007 close anyhoo, Amazing Yorkies, and more all own show yorkies. If you go to the showing and information forum, you can see some pictures here of show Yorkies. Also www.ytca.org has pics of puppies as they grow up. Schanuzer is the probable closest to the Yorkie. Straighter shoulders, head is quite different of course, not to mention the coat:-) I am assuming you own the Toy Group Schnauzer and not the Giant? TAilset and carriage is different too, as well as musculation. THat means a Schauzer should have denser/stronger muscles I believe then the average Yorkie. Anyway good luck at the vets. Seriously hope all is well and only a dental on the boy is needed!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Most breeders won't breed females that small, they make great pets, but they shouldn't be bred. I think the smallest a good breeder will use is 5 and most say 6. The size of the breeding female is just one part of the equation on what size puppies she will produce, that's why if you are planning to breed you should buy from a breeder who knows the line. I'm not sure if you mean CKC the reputable Canadian Kennel Club registry or CKC the Continental Kennel Club, which is a worthless paper registry that choose the initials to trick people. Any dog, even a table can be listed as a purebred with the Continental Kennel club. Sorry to give you such bad news, but were very protective of the breed, and too many breeders are breeding for the wrong reasons and have produced a slew of genetic illnesses into the breed.
