| biewer vs parti I saw some absolutely beautiful biewers last weekend. I understand from my limited research that they were originally bred from yorkies with the piebald gene. So, what is the difference between biewers and parti yorkies?.Is it just the documentation. |

| The differences are explained in many older threads; here is a link to one and you can search and find even more. BTW I think they are both beautiful, however they are distinctly different breeds, even in temperament: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ti-yorkie.html

| Check out Snow Blue Yorkies website....she has very detailed explanations of both parti and Biewer Yorkies......and they are yorkies, bred from yorkies, DNA'd as Yorkies....they have a color gene that has been bred out of recession....and then she compares the two and the difference between them. |

| Ok I've read the above posts. Some interesting discussions. I recieved some info from the BTCA that states "The Biewer Terrier is not a parti yorkie nor a Biewer a la pom pon. " They go on to say that it has a totally different genetic makeup. How is this possible if it was bred from yorkies?. Another question. There was a mention of deafness. Are there any other health issues and what is their prevelence? |

There is alot of controversy surrounding the biewer but from what I understand the parti and the biewer do have the same genes. I havent heard of any biewers or partis having deafness at least not on here. Im not a biewer or parti owner IM just relating what Ive read on here

| Some breeders of biewers even breed their biewers to partis to increase their gene pool

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | As Chachi has said there is a lot of controversy regarding the two. From what I understand they are all bred from yorkies. I have a biewer...she is stunning and can hear perfectly....I haven't heard anything about a predisposition to deafness....that's a new one to me....hopefully some biewer breeder will chime in, there are several on here. Like Judy (Yorkiemom1) said check out Snow Blue Yorkies...she detailed information on the origin of the Biewer.

| I have not heard of deafness. I have not even seen a Parti or Biewer in person, but have admired them through photos of other members. I have often heard that the Biewer's have a calmer temperament than Yorkies in general. Yet, as with any breed, personalities can differ even within one breed. I have a very sweet, mellow Yorkie
