| Help please My yorkie just had puppies. She is silver. She bred with my male yorkie who is silver and tan. She had 5 puppies, four black and one of them is white with black spots(like a cow) I know that she only bred with my male yorkie because they are not allowed outside, why did one come out white with black spots? |

| It sounds like one of the pups is a parti colored yorkie. If one of more of the parents carried the parti gene then they could produce a parti yorkie. We would love to see pictures of the parents and the pups. I hope everything goes well.

| Ok, I had heard of parti yorkies, but I didn't know if only one could be born in a litter. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here. |

| Congratulations and welcome to YT! If you are looking for information, this is the place to be. We're happy you joined us and look forward to getting to know you, your pups, and the newest family members. LOL It took me a while to figure out how to post pictures and I learned that when I download from my iPhone, I have to first resize the picts in order to post to this site. You may need to practice for a while but if you need a resizing program, there are several that are free to download. Good luck, welcome again, and we're looking forward to picts when you can!!

| Help parti puppy Actually both parents will have to carry the recessive gene in order to produce a parti puppy. We will start seeing a lot more partis cropping up in standard yorkies due to all the parti carriers being bred. Congrats.

| I had a feeling this was the case - the recessive parti gene at work. Yeah, your other pups MAY be carriers of this gene, too. So if you sell them, make sure to let the buyer know this. I'm not sure what the stats are on the parti gene, but I know from biology class, you have a 1 out of 4 chance of having this happen. Both parents have to have the gene and it is recessive. So they would be like RP breeding RP (R = regular, P = parti). That gives these possible outcomes: RR (no parti gene at all), RP (carries the recessive Parti gene), PR (carries the recessive Parti gene), PP (Parti colored pup; and obvious carrier of gene hehe) That pic of the pups with mom is too cute!
