2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | New home is 5.5 hr away. What to send with her for a safe travel ? I've never had one of my pups going to a family so far from home before. One of my pups will be making a 5.5 hr trip from Ohio to WV to their new home. I want to be totally sure that she will be safe during her journey. Below is a list of item I will be sending with her on her trip. Second series of shots Bottle water & bowel Food Nutrical Puppy Blanket Instruction to stop every 1.5 - 2 hrs (for a potty break and to stretch her legs). I will be emailing info on Hypoglycemic Shock for them to review before they arrive. I am wondering if I should suggest that she get plenty of rest for at least the first 2 hrs after arriving home. Is there is anything that I am missing, if so can you suggest anything else that she might need ? Thank you for any input . . .

| That's about how far it was for me to pick up Ruby and Rosie. Liked everything you have... B 1. At first I was going to say a leash and harness for potty breaks. As i forgot for both dogs when I picked them up BUT...I didn't stop for Ruby for potty break/stretches and I probably wouldnt have stopped as she hadn't completed her puppy shots so I didn't want her on ground that I was unfamiliar with (worried if any sick dogs had been there.) SO...I would suggest you have them bring a crate with puppy pads and let her go potty on the pad. Something for puppy to chew on. Breeder gave me something for Ruby to chew on and when she wasn't sleeping she spent a good portion of the ride home chewing on it. Let the pups spend time on the blanket going home with this puppy so it smells like her siblings. My breeder also suggested I limit taking her places and people coming over to see her for the first week to allow her time to get accustomed to her new home. It was the piece advice I didn't listen to because I got Ruby the day before Christmas eve. I think thats why she got hypoglycemia because we were running running running that first weekend she was home. I bet that new family is soooooo excited to get thevpuppy home!!!

| I also packed some paper towels and a garbage bag in case mine got sick in the car on the way home.

| Since the pup hasn't been fully vaccinated, they should be careful with the potty breaks to avoid exposure to any contaminants, like at rest stops.

| I was going to suggest some wipes and a plastic bag in case of car sickness. And maybe a stuffed animal or something she can snuggle up against if she'll be alone/without another dog.

| How old is she? IMO she should have had her 2nd vaccination before she leaves. |

| They need to know not to have the pup places strange dogs have been. Personally I think an under 12 week pup is to young for the stress of a trip.

| What if she is sore from her shots? I would imagine that would make the trip and getting picked up by you new family uncomfortable if not painful.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Thanks for your concern Taylor but I have already spoken to my vet about her taking the trip. We have even made sure that her shots will be the day before she leaves. That way I have plenty of time to see if she is having a reaction to the meds and can postpone the trip if necessary. So not to add to any stress or car sickness she could have.

| Ruby had some of her shots the day before I picked her up. Breeder showed me where she got the shot so I was careful but she did just fine.
