Puppy watch Hi! This is my first time posting. I have read all the great advice from all the wonderful breeders on here. I'm expecting my first litter due 1-10-13. Trixie is 59 days today. I started taking her temp 2 days ago. It's been running 99 throughout the day then 100.2 at night. This morning when I took it, it was 98! I took it 2 hours later and still 98. She's not eating her food, but she ate a little cottage cheese this morning. Im do nervous, but excited at the same time. I just wanted a little feedback and reassurance. Thanks for listening!

Have your vet on standby in case of emergency....how many babies is she carrying? When you did her xray, did the vet measure mommas pelvic ring?? All will fit thru without difficulty, no doubt....not a problem you want to encounter during your first whelp! Have all your supplies set up and ready to grab....I even go ahead and cut my floss for the cords....good luck! Keep us posted!

That's for the replies. I did have an X-ray at 51 days and it showed 3 puppies. I have my vets number ready just in case. I will keep everyone posted. She has laid on her blanket all day.

This is the time I start....this sounds so silly as I am about to type it out.....laying next to her in the "whelping box", just talking softly to her and rubbing her tummy and singing softly to her.....keeping everything on a quiet, subdued, calm, relaxed pre labor special time.....we just bond and visit and hum/sing, carressing and gentle tummy rubs, and wait together.....I am always in attendance when the babies are born....I will pull the sack off and cut and tie the cord, suck the mucus out of nose and mouth, give .01cc Dr.Millers Pet Nutra Drops-the newborn actually sucks it right up from the syringe-(I let momma eat the first couple placentas, but then I remove the rest) and then I let momma clean the baby off....it is that cleaning the mucus away that bonds the momma to baby....and the babies are stimulated to nurse vigorously after the little glucose baby gets from the nutra drops.....

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I give my newborns, 1/4 a tube of benebac, is a study done that much of the fading puppy deaths are related to deficiency of good flora, so I do the benebac, as soon as they are aspirated and wiggly, then give the pup to mom and started with my last litter the next day I give them the .01cc Dr.Millers Pet Nutra Drops, I learned of them here.. and I thought it was a great thing, so I started giving it to the pups the next day.. and my litter was a huge success... hugs, |

Thanks for the great advice! Just took temp and its 98.6. She ate some cottage cheese. Laid in her wheeling box for a while today. She's had kind of a blank stare and her eyes look a little dilated. She went potty several times last night 4 times in an hour and it was clear not yellow like urine, but I had given her some broth 30 mins before that. Babies are still moving around and she's not really acting laborish (panting, digging, etc.) she's just pretty laid back and calm. I'm sorry if I sound nervous, this is my first time for breeding and I am not a breeder. But I love yorkies and I wanted an offspring from her and him! I have gotten so much advice from this website and my main concern is Trixie and her well being. She is my child!!! Thanks again and I will keep posted. Keep coming with the advice!
