| Anyone heard of Emerald yorkies? I am looking to get a female yorkie puppy to breed in a few years and I came across Emerald yorkies from the AKC website. They are in the florida panhandle area. Has anyone heard of them or bought any of their puppies. I have exchanged a few emails and she says she wont let a puppy go until she has a phone interview and a vet reference, but this is the first time I am actually buying a pedigree yorkie and don't want to be tricked. Thanks |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Well I don't know the person but I looked at the site. Emerald Yorkies If this is who you are talking about A few things come up. The word teacup is one. You click on for puppies you can click PayPal. *Even before you talk to her you can put a deposit on the pup. She talks about in her contract**If replacement puppy is a higher price than the purchased puppy, the Purchaser will be responsible for the difference in price or wait for a puppy to be born of same price as purchased puppy. Really !? I am sorry if the puppy has to be replaced I would think they would just get a new pup having to deal with stress and sadness of dealing with the situation. That is just me |

| I was looking at the web site and saw a lot of red flags. I also clicked on link to breed standard and wow does she have it wrong on her site. In the weight area she has it stated as : Weight Must not exceed seven pounds. Standard is 4-7 lbs. Teacups are under 4 lbs. There is no such thing as a Tea Cup Yorkie. This is not part of the Breed Standard. I have no idea where she come up with that statement.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Go on the YTCA website. There is a number of breeders in the area. And also i found that if one you call does not have a pup they let you know who does. You will be glad you did. Be patient. You will find your pup. Glad you joined. Welcome |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I agree with all the others, I just want to add, familiarize yourself with the way a Yorkie should look, and you'll see that her dogs are not good examples of the breed. All Yorkies are cute, but breeders should only breed the dogs who are the best examples, and all she seems interested in are "apple heads" "short noses" and low weight.

Apple heads are a definate NO-No in Yorkies....that is NOT breed standard. Read the standard and see what a Yorkies head is supposed to be. Same with noses. (Now if you are just looking to buy you a Yorkie pet and NOT for breeding, and you like the more Chihuahua looking Yorkie, then I guess it is OK to purchase one like that that you think is adorable...but NOT for breeding!) If you are getting a dog to be used for breeding, you need to be very familiar with pedigrees.....know what you should be breeding to hit the standard. I personally adore the heads and faces of the Durrer line .....what are the lines this breeder has? After you get familiar with which type YOU like, then you go for those dogs that exemplify those characteristics. Take your time.....get it right...... | |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I also looked at their site and while I am not a breeder or show my dogs most of her breeding pairs are not to the standard. So if you are looking for a Yorkie to grow up to look like the standard I would guess these won't. Most of the puppies have ears far from the standard. For what she is charging I think if you check with breeders either on here or through the YTCA you will be more likely to get a yorkie that is to the standard and healthy. I am so glad you are researching and asking opinions. Good luck and keep us posted.
