| The strangest thing... Can anyone explain how a female that pregnant can be big in the belly at day 37 then on day 39 her belly is gone or not as big? I thought she had a belly full of pups, now I'm wondering if she's reaborbed them. That's what happend to another female I had that the samething happend to. Or, is it possible the pup(s) moved? I am scratching my head wondering what's going on. She even feels lighter now...UGHHH!! Hugs, Irene |

| Irene, It sounds like she absorbed the litter.. I had this happen to one of my females last Thursday! She was due the 21st of this month.. Last Wednesday night when she went to bed and her belly was huge and then Thursday morning her belly was flat.. My vet done an ultrasound, but they were all gone.. My vet also gave her a antibotic injection and sent her home with Clavamox, just incase of infection! Please call your vet! I will not breed this female again last winter she absorbed part of her first litter and the other two puppies passed away.. Melanie |

| Oh no. Now I'm worried. This totally stinks. When I looked over top of her on Sunday I could see a big bulge. Now when I look over her no bluge.. I am gonna see about getting her ultrasound done today. If the pup(s) were disolved I do need to get that clavamox in her. That's what was given to my other female. Please say prayers that this is not the worst case scenario |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh Irene this does sound so sad - I hope it's not what's going on - Where do the little tiny puppies go ? Can they get infected from this ? Man - I sure hope she's going to be ok - I'd be a nervous wreck too GOOD LUCK and keep us posted....could they have just shifted position or something ? |

| Gosh, Irene. I hope that the whole litter is not gone. Maybe she has absorbed just a part of the litter. It is sad to be half-way thru a pregnancy and looking forward to new babies, only to lose them. Let us know what the sonogram shows.. |

My Isabella had this happend more than once, she also had other conception problems. That's why she was spayed and retired just before her 4th b-day. Motherhood was no in the cards. They can get an infection, I remember Izzy had reabsorbed an entire litter. We did an xray and saw the fluid pockets which were the remnants of the pups. She then passed some gooey green stuff (which was the disolved pups), Clavamox was also given to prevent an infection which could result from the gooey stuff. I am HOPING it's just a matter the bodies shifting. She feels as though she may have 1 in there now..but who knows..my vets office is closed until 3pm for a staff meeting..I will be getting her in for an appointment today. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks for your concern. Hugs, irene

I hope there is something left. When this happend to my other female whom I retired, her body went as far as getting milk in and faking labor. It's sad for me but for the mom's as well. This happend the day after I gave her Chicken Soup Lover's canned food. I have never given that to my expecting mom's..I'm getting paranoid!! Please pray!! Hugs, Irene

| Irene, you did nothing wrong so don't blame yourself. A change in food is not gonna cause her to re-absorb puppies. Might give her the runs, but not the problem you describe. I know you know in your head you didn't do anything, but it does take the heart a while to catch up to that fact..Let us know what the vet says. Will they do the sonogram this afternoon?? |
