| Breeder Review Anyone heard of Yorkie Love Affair? Breeder Review Breeder Review Anyone heard of Yorkie Love Affair? I cannot find much about the breeder I am considering getting a puppy from them after seeing this adorable ad. What are your thoughts? I cannot find anywhere who the breeder is.... questionable or is that a red flag? If a breeder has nothing to hide why do they hide website ownership? Also I cannot find a health guarantee is that the norm ... What should I look for when checking out a breeders website? Thanks for your help. http://dogs.oodle.com/view/yorkshire-terrier-puppys-teddy-bear-faces-and-small-parents/2901115283-goodrich-mi/ https://apps.facebook.com/marketplac...book.oodle.com The yorkie I am looking at Yorkie Puppy, AKC, Super tiny, Perky ears AKC | Goodrich | eBay Classifieds (Kijiji) | 19113194 Yorkie Love Affair |

| "Quote" At Yorkie Love Affair we do NOT breed to the Yorkie standards. We like the smaller version, between 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 pounds this fits the teacup description. Yorkshire terrier is not a separate dog breed standard or classification as there is no such breed of dog as a teacup Yorkie. Teacup or tiny is a size category made up by breeders for individuals looking for a tiny lap dog, or a dog that they can put in a purse carrier these dogs range in the two or four pound range. People all over have been using this term to help possible pet owners find the size or type of Yorkie they want easier, as there is a large number of people looking for a tiny or "teacup" Yorkie. With that being said, there are some Yorkshire Terrier Breeders that breed strictly for money. Unfortunately they produce pups that have genetic problems that they cannot afford to care for their dog properly. We have known of breeders who will post for donations in order to pay for their vet bills. Simply put in a breeders name, and see what comes up on the web~what you find may surprise you. Our breeding program breeds for temperament, health, and quality.Too many breeders frown upon, or snub their nose when they hear the term "teacup yorkie", this is just a common way for the general public to understand size. It simply means a yorkie that was NOT breed to AKC standard. There are many of us who like the smaller size yorkie~ The difference between most show breeders of five to seven pound Yorkies and breeders of teacup Yorkies from two to four pounds is the size of the puppies. In a show litter, sometimes a puppy remains small because of genetics, or it is premature. Most breeders specializing in teacup Yorkies study the pedigree and genetics of their stock and breed for temperament, size, health and quality the same as show Yorkie breeders, the difference being at Yorkie Love Affair, we breed for a pup that will be 3-5lbs as an adult, with a cute face and free from any health or genetic issues. Although teacup Yorkies are very tiny, most are oblivious to this. They are energetic, scared of very little, playful, intelligent, brave, loving, loyal, sweet, adventurous, and fun. They are highly affectionate with their owners but are sometimes aggressive towards other small animals and can be territorial and suspicious of strangers. Early socialization of teacup Yorkies helps prevent this when they reach adulthood. Teacup Yorkies are a wonderful lap dog, dislike being ignored, love human attention and enjoy their owners continuously holding and making a fuss of them. They are dependant and demanding so require a lot of attention. PLEASE NOTE This is not the means that we use to support our family! This is a hobby and we enjoy making people happy with the quality of dogs that we produce. Unlike other breeders, they use their pups as a way to make money to pay their bills. We only have 2-3 litters a year. BIG FLAG FROM THIS SITE....RUNNNNNN!!!!

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | RUN!!! I would NOT buy from these ppl! $3500.00??? no way, no how...thats the first thing, second the fact that they dont breed to AKC standards?? You should buy from a breeder that does conform to the Yorkie standard, not for size, which is what these ppl are breeding for. Are you experience with looking after a 'tiny'? Personally I would prefer a pup in the 4-7lb range...that is still a small pup. To me the larger ones seem to have less health problems than the tiny ones do. Also they dont seem to have a health guarantee....huge red flag! My breeder offers a two year written health guarantee against any genetic health defects.... Please check the YTCA website for a list of breeders. Again JMO I wouldn'y buy from anyone advertising on Craigslist/Kijigi or whoever it is either. You can get a healthy, well bred pup from a reputable breeder for far less than the amount these people are charging.

| Yorkie Love Affair WOW!!! offers a two year written health guarantee against any genetic health defects that's incredible! will you PM with your breeders name please. The parents of this pup mom is 3lbs and dad is 4lbs and I am looking for a smaller yorkie but don't want any health issues. I DO want a health guarantee. What kinds of things should I look for in a good guarantee that protects me as the buyer? |

| This sounds like a backyard breeder but could be a front for a puppy mill. Run away. Advertising that they do not even attempt to breed toward the breed standard indicates what wretches they are. They are going after the people who want that tiny fashion accessory and care nothing about the health and welfare of their dogs. The parents are not even good quality. Most any pedigree will have a "champion background" if you look back far enough. |

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | That little guy is very cute! It is sad that people are allowed to breed dogs who may end up with health issues because of bad breeding. You have recieved great advice. Good luck! I am sure the right puppy will be here very soon!

| 1. The fact that you can take them almost anywhere. They are so small, they can comfortably fit inside a large tote bag or a special bag specially designed so you can take your fur baby along. Plus, more and more retail stores and restaurants are allowing dogs to come inside, particularly if they're small in size. The small dog definitely has the advantage here. 2. If you live in an apartment, a small dog may be the only dog that's allowed. Many apartment complexes have regulations specifying the size dog you can have. If your dog is Tinkerbell size, he may be allowed to take up residence with you in your apartment. 3. Small dogs require less food which can be a cost savings to you. Plus, if you need to take them to a kennel or have them groomed, it generally will cost less than it would for a larger dog. 4. Small dogs tend to be less threatening to other pets you may have in your house. 5. Small dogs tend to form close bonds with their people, possibly because their small size allows them to follow their owner almost everywhere. 6. People tend to find smaller dogs less intimidating and are often eager to pamper and cuddle them. If you're a social person and like people coming up to you to pet your dog, a small dog may be for you. 7. Smaller dogs tend to be easier to clean, groom and bathe. 8. The "Teacup" sized dogs tend to have smaller features such as snout, noses, ears which makes them more teddy bear faced. 9. Quieter barks 10. I just plain and simple LOVE having something I can carry with me all the time that has that awww factor! BUT I DON"T want a sickly pup and if he looks sickly than that means I am going to have issues down the road. |

Well, if you insist on a so called "teacup" you are looking for trouble. No dog was intended to be 2 to 3lbs. A good breeder may have a tiny occasionally but they are not supposed to be that size. A responsible breeder is very careful about where they place these tiny babies as they are basically a special needs pup. Tiny dogs break easily. Tiny dogs tend to have genetic disorders. Tiny dogs are a danger to themselves as they do not realize their own shortcomings. Tiny dogs are more likely to be attacked by larger dogs. Tiny dogs need to be watched over constantly and cannot live the normal life of a dog. Tiny dogs have high pitched barks that will go though any apartment wall. If a tiny dog gets sick you have precious little time to get it well as it has no ability to compensate like a larger dog. If you buy from a tiny breeder you had better have plenty of money on hand to pay the vet bills you will be facing very soon. You haven't saved a cent by buying from these breeders. There are still many places where dogs are not welcome. There are still many places where dogs should not be. Your dog is safer at home in many cases. Most apartments that require a small dog have a 20lb maximum. My little girl would be considered 'large' by some standards. She is a 5 pounder. She remained very small as a puppy for a very long time and I had to go through special precautions to keep her safe. She would try to jump up on objects and then jump off. She would get things she shouldn't have and chew them (more prone to get an obstruction) despite my constant efforts to keep things out of her reach. She decided she wanted to sleep on the back of a rocker like the cat. One little rock of the chair would have sent her flying. Buying from a breeder who breeds for tiny dogs is irresponsible. These breeders disregard every genetic rule of breeding of purebred dogs and breed for size only. This type of breeding creates a genetic disaster. The breed standard is 4 to 7lbs. Why would you want a dog any smaller than that? If you want a dog that is a fashion accessory you might want to reevaluate your desire for a dog. These dogs are small but still require all the training a larger dog needs. If they are not trained properly you can have some terrible personality disorders. Your desire for a tiny dog should be tempered by your desire for the breed to be healthy and strong. You should have more concern for the dog's well being then your need to tote your dog every where you go. A 4 to 7lb dog IS tiny and to breed for something smaller is dangerous to the breed. | |
