| Quote: https://www.akc.org/breeds/fss_breeds.cfm Some AKC events exclude biewers, if I'm interpreting this correctly. https://www.akc.org/reg/fss_companion_events.cfm Biewers are approved for "companion events" but not all events. Just interesting little tid bits of info that I love picking up here at YT. Thanks for that link! I don't expect to ever own another AKC registered dog, I don't rule it out either. I am intermittently searching for a companion for our elderly yorkie. One hope is to give him sort of a play mate and other various reasons. If indeed, biewers are not registerable at AKC, then where do they register? A national breed club... AKC provides a link to: Biewer Terrier Registry Welcome Biewer Terrier Registry offers this explanation: "The Biewer Terrier is a purebred of its own and not a Yorkshire Terrier. The BTRA is the only registry set up for the Biewer Terrier breed and feel it is important for the foundation we are developing in America to reflect the correct name for recognition as a breed of its own." So, in summary, if someone breeds or shows a biewer... I would think A. register with Biewer Terrier Registry, B. record at AKC FSS, C. Lose the yorkie "title", "The Biewer Terrier is a breed of it's own." Embrace it and be proud of it! It's a gorgeous dog! | |

| I absolutely agree with your statement. I'm just not one of those people. I don't care if people say Biewer Terrier or Biewer Yorkie. Hell, I say Biewer Terrier and my oldest son says Biewer Yorkie because that's how we first learned about them and that's what has stuck with him. Granted, he's only seven, but I don't see him changing any time soon. Lol. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Registery The Biewers register with the (BBIR) Biewer Breed International Registery that has been in existence for about 8 tears. Some clubs/individuals still register in Germany with IBC. most rare breed breeders do not like CKC--canine kennel club. |

The simplest explanation is The Biewer group believes that they are from Yorkies and the Biewer Terrier group believes they are a mixed dog. And as you posted only the Biewer Terrier group is AKC FSS. The Biewers are BBIR

| It is also important to understand that the Biewer is NOT and American Breed. This is a dog that originated in Germany and is in many parts of Europe and other areas of the world. What a small group of Americans do or think has little significance to what the rest of the world does. The majority of the world believes the Biewer ala Pom Pon is a pure bred dog that comes from a yorkie. Many still breed back to the yorkie, however in this country, many breeders believe in breeding only Biewer to Biewer. Diana

Diana ] Thanks... History Seems to state the least controversial summarized history of the Biewer. It's a fairly new and unique breed for sure! | |

| Yes. I bought a biewer yorkie from terry two years ago. She is the best yorkie I have ever had. I have had two others in years past from other breeders and they were not nearly as good dogs as this one is. I found Terry to be most helpful and wonderful to deal with. Mandy is a much better dog than we ever expected. I am in Frisco Texas. If you would like to know more call me at 214-668-3973. |
