| nursing mother, picky eater My nursing mother 1 week old pups (4) isn't eating very well. Wants to be hand fed. She will not eat kibble (puppy food) or her usual home made ground beef, carrots and rice. Sometimes will eat a scrambled egg with cheese. She will eat chicken breast and pork chops and Cesar dog food. ( not my favourite but at this point I just want her to eat!) But I am wondering why. She should be starving and will usually eat anything not nailed down. Has anyone one else had a nursing mother do this? Thanks!

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I have one who gets finicky and sometimes she decides she must be hand fed. It typically lasts maybe a week. I wouldn't feed her pork chops. I give mine cottage cheese mixed with eggs, boiled chicken, for a couple of days she still eats the whelping pudding (because she loves it) and Merrick makes a canned food named Wingaling. It contains actual chicken wings and mine loves this. A side benefit is the calcuim contained in the bones. I also feed her 5-6 meals a day. Nursing takes a lot of moms...she needs those calories.
