| It is day 54 but temp 98.6 and crusty and clear discharge. HELP Hi, It will be my normally 5 lb yorkie's first litter. She is on day 54 and I noticed a few different things today. One is that when I left to drive the kids down the street for school she did not want to go with me but wanted to stay in bed. (Very unusual for her) Then I was going to trim the hair around her pee pee and it was crusty there. The hair was all stuck and crusty. So I took her temp and it was 98.6. Then I cleaned her off with a warm damp rag and when I was cleaning there was some clear mucusy discharge that came out. I wiped it off but looked like it would just keep coming. So I trimmed the hair around that and her butt. I then took her temperature again and it was 98.6 still. I took it a few days ago and it was 100.0. Is this normal? |

| Everything you described is perfectly normal. Low blood sugar can cause a dog to run a lower temperature. If you took her temperature before she ate then that could explain the lower temperature. The discharge sounds perfectly normal. Some pregnant females get so large it is hard for them to keep their vulva clean and we have to help them as you did. Do you know how many pups she is expecting? I pray everything goes well.

| We are thinking 3. We have not got X-ray yet though. She mated on April 25th twice. (same dog. He was a little smaller then her) Well I got her to drink a little. But she is not interested in eating. So here are her temp readings: 11:50am - 98.6 12:00pm - 98.6 2:00pm - 98.3 Should it keep going down? Last edited by RoxyYorkie; 06-18-2012 at 01:13 PM. |

| When I said drank some it was not water. Vet told me before that I could supplement calcium. So I gave her a little at 1:00pm then gave an hour for it to kick in before I took the next temperature reading. It was K9 Puppy Gold. |

| Ok so here are the latest. 8:05pm - 98.9 11:05pm - 98.3 She has eaten her food tonight and got a little bit more energy. She was licking my hand earlier and then whined a little when I moved it away. She just kept staring at me. But she is sleeping next to me now. I don't know if I should just stop taking her temperature because it is already low so I don't know if I would even be able to tell a difference when it actually happens. Anyone have this happen or know if this is ok for it still to be this low? |

| Usually, when the temp drops like that, delivery is imminent....pups in 24 hours. |

| When in doubt, call your vet. If she is going into labor this soon, perhaps the vet can do something to help. I wish you and your little Momma and babies the very best!!!

| Well took the temp twice today: 9:30am - 97.6 1:20pm - 99.5 I had to run to work so I just brought her with me. I did notice this morning that her vulva was swollen a little more. And more clear mucus like discharge. Today is day 55. As long as I did my calculations correct. The tie was April 25th. Has anyone had them this early and been fine? She is still not digging and not panting. She is just sleeping so maybe we are still days off. The 97.6 this morning though shocked me. Last edited by RoxyYorkie; 06-19-2012 at 12:34 PM. |
