| Tiny Yorkie Kisses in CA?? I wanted to start off by saying this is my very first post, and I feel completely lost so if I am doing this incorrectly please give me some pointers! I have 1 Yorkie that turns 3 on the 11th of this month. His name is Oliver. He is everything and more than we ever wanted in a dog. We did go thru some hard times with the breeder though. We purchased him from YorkieAngel.com. I'm not sure if any of you are aware of them but they were shut down about a 8 months after we got him for many of their puppies dying after going to their new homes. When we took Oliver home we took him to the Vet the very next day for his checkup. Besides fleas he checked out alright. Within a day afterwards he showed severe symptoms of kennel cough that had him on meds for weeks, he also tested positive for Giardia which we had to go through 3 rounds of meds to take care of. Then I had issues getting his AKC registration from the breeders. Anyway, they went to jail and we got our vet bills paid for after a class action lawsuit from all the people who lost their dogs or had sick ones. We are ready to bring home a new Yorkie now, and needless to say after the first experience I am very worried about having a similar experience. I have been looking at pups on Tinyyorkiekisses.com. I've emailed back and forth with the girl who owns it, and everything seems legitiment..although it did the first time too. Has anyone had any experience with Tiny Yorkie Kisses? I'm choosing them because they are within driving distance (as I did with my first Yorkie) prices seem fair, and according to her Facebook page, she has a lot of happy and satisfied families posting thank you's. If anyone knows anything good or bad about Tiny Yorkie Kisses, please let me know!! Thanks! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I knew before ever looking at her website that she's not a breeder I would ever buy from (tiny yorkie kisses, just sounds like an exploiting breeder's name), after looking, my beliefs were confirmed. From reading, I'm guessing she is also a broker, the only thing worse than a greeder. By the time I got to her "payment options" and saw she accepts paypal and all major credit cards, I was sick to my stomach. IMO, this is not an ethical breeder, merely another trying to capitalize on the yorkie's popularity.

| Have you thought about adopting a yorkie from a rescue or shelter? They have puppies sometimes too,if you dont want an adult. |

Finding a good breeder isn't normally an easy task it takes research and patience. I would start with attending dog shows. Although I don't think it's necessary to show dogs to be a good breeder that is generally a better place to start than searching for yorkie seller websites. This website lists the shows for California, hopefully one near you. Attend a show with confirmation, watch the yorkies being shown and then talk to some of the breeders/handlers. Or you can find a breeder listed with the YTCA website. InfoDog List of Pure Bred Dog Shows Held in CA

| I was just at Tiny Yorkie Kisses for the 1st time about a week ago. I drove up to a large house on what looked to me like a ranch or large acreage. There were 2 very nice ladies and a very cute little 6 lb yorkie named Butters who came to greet me. The house was very clean and open and much cooler than the squelching heat just outside. They led me to the room the puppies were kept in. It was visible from the entry door. The room looked and smelled clean. There were about 5 or 6 large cages with a 2-3 puppies in each. They were hopelessly adorable and very healthy looking. They were not very active but this didn't seem alarming to me. I was looking for a very small puppy at the time but they didn't have one that quite suited me so they let me know that new litters were coming all the time. I'm not sure from where. I told them to let me know when they got a smaller one and they referred me to the website because they keep it updated frequently. The small ones go fast. =) |

| Cool, thx for the info. I was really looking for someone who had first hand experience with them. I've emailed to ask additional questions but haven't heard back from her. |

If this breeder has new litters coming all the time, that tells me they are breeding for profit only and are making a living off the backs of innocent animals, again not what I consider ethical. An ethical breeder will not breed for "small ones" instead will breed to standard. Occasionally a reputable breeder will have a small or tiny pup, but they never strive for that type. OP....I don't need first hand experience but rely on my knowledge of this breed and a breeder's ethics to determine who I consider reputable.

Neither lady said they were "striving" to breed a small one for me. They said in their experience they could tell when a puppy was likely going to stay small. All the ones they had the day I visited were estimated to weigh over what I was looking for. If I had been interested in getting a puppy there, I would have asked where the pups were coming from and I'd advise anyone to do the same. In their defense nothing about the place seemed 'scammy' or strange to me. | |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | From main page of TinyYorkie Kisses:I have healthy and beautiful Yorkshire terriers for sale from the best yorkie breeders This statement says to me she is selling "other breeders" dogs, a broker. She speaks of a health guarantee, but doesn't detail it. She speaks nothing of what genetic health tests have been done on the breeding dogs, prior to breeding. For these reasons alone, I would not even consider this person. There is a sticky here in the library; on how to find a reputable breeder. Do your homework first before, even seeing a puppy. All puppies are cute.
