Exclamation NEVER never bred a TINY

This is really in response to the breeding tinies poll that is now closed. Never bred a tiny, dont go against the norm, if you care about your baby dont do it. This is my very recent experience. I am upset with myself for putting my lil girl thru this. Please Learn from this......truly if you have a heart you never want to have this experience with your pet.
It will take me awhile to get over how cruel I was to my 3 1/2 lb baby.

Oh My........what a night.
Peanut had babies and it sure wasnt fun. She went into to labor about 8:30-9:00 pm. Around midnight I decided to call my vet since there really was no progress (no waterbag) so I met him & his assistant at the clinic.
She had to have a c section and it was pretty awful really...I MEAN HORRIBLE! SHe had 3 girl puppies born........they were extremely hard to rouse because of the medication, two came out of it, the other took about 6 breaths then stopped. They tried to give her a shot under her tongue to stimulate her and it didnt work. I tried everything, rubbing her like crazy breaths to the mouth for about 15 minutes, she died.Peanut started waking up at the end of the procedure (stitching) and I know she felt every bit of the last 8 to 10 stitches. My vet kept apolizing to me and Peanut but he refused to give her anything because he said it was so important she not be asleep now. He said she had to be awake for her pups and it wasnt good for her either. I kept apologing to Peanut for what I had done.
When we packed them up and brought them home(hot water bottles around them), one girl was soooooo cold to the touch, so I warmed her by the woodstove and gave her a tiny bit of supplement cause they had never latched on. Did the same for other little girl. After doing all I felt I could do they stayed with mommy and I was pretty sure I would wake up with an hours sleep to dead puppies. But this am they are latched on and much more active. Peanut is being a good mama for them. She is on antibiotics for a week, plus had a shot of PCN.
These puppies weigh 4 and 5 ozs. She never could have had them and she will never have puppies again. Ill never put her through that again.
After her pups are weaned and shes fully recovered Im getting her spay. Live and learn but I wish I never would have bred her after seeing her go thru that. Again it was so cruel and I was SO WRONG.

Kelly:

Thank you very much for sharing your personal experience with Peanut. Your outcome could have been much worse. I'm glad that Peanut and two of her babies are healthy now.

Many thoughts and prayers to you as you continue to nurture and nurse your new babies for the next several weeks.

OMG that sounds sooooo heartwrenching and I'm so glad your mommy is ok ....thank you SO MUCH for sharing your experience - I'm so sorry you lost one...that's so sad.

in no way do I mean this disrespectifully but I am so against tinies being bred and this just pounds it home to people that our tiny little girls are just to delicate to have babies....

I am truly glad you didn't lose your little Peanut and you are a good person for helping educate others on the dangers of breeding tinies.....

I hope things go better from here and your new puppies thrive and stay healthy and get stronger....what a scare you must have had. Bless your new mommies heart - Good luck

Kelly,

This is so sad and I am sorry but thank you for posting your story. Maybe a few other people who think nature will take care of everything will read your story and have second thoughts.

Thank goodness you did not lose Peanut but what a hard lesson to learn.

Thank you.
I felt it so important to post this so hopefully no one would try breeding a tiny. I am so against breeding tinies too, I was undecided before, but there is no doubt in my mind now that is so completely wrong.
I havent a problem admitting I was wrong, I knew better, I had the information and did it anyway. Its kinda like the "IT wont happen to us syndrome" but it will, it does, and its safe to say almost definite with a tiny. We were lucky she could have died and all the puppies too.

You are so brave and honest for admitting this. I'm so sorry that you lost a little pup last night. Please don't beat yourself up over this for too long -- you learned from this and have moved on in a better direction. You're a great example for everyone who thinks it's ok and safe to breed tinies. Your story can really reach people -- thank you so much for sharing it with us.

Please kiss your precious Peanut for me.

Kelly,

God Bless You and I am glad you shared your story- you could have been a coward and hid the truth but you didn't. Your courage will help someone else and another precious little one will be spared your pain. I pray your little Peanut is doing well and her babies. There is lots of love being sent your way. Take care .

Those puppy weights are the weights of a 5-7 lbs yorkie and they were in a tiny. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm pretty ticked off reading all of this and what that poor dog went through.

On the road to recovery and good luck with the little ones.

So, who still wants to defend the breeding of tinies???????

I HAVE to ask - I mean this in a general sense of a question and am only asking you because you just went thru this -

is it normal for them stitch without numbing the area ? Were you saying when these poor babies get stitched back up they have NO painkillers and are stitched and feel everything as it happens ?

I'm only asking because this is worse than I thought when it comes to C-Sections ....IS this normal for all C sections with tinies ?

because if it is then I feel sick - that must REALLY REALLY Hurt ! BIG hugs to your mommy...bless her heart - I know you feel terrible and hope this didn't come off as a dig to you.... because I can tell you already feel bad enough -

Glad to hear that your little girl is OK. Congrats on the puppies.

Breeding ANY SIZE female can be risky. What happened to your little one can happen to a 5-7 pound female yorkie also. Big puppies, one large puppy or a stuck puppy can cause problems (c-section). Every birth is different.
This was the first year that all my puppies in every litter survived. Up until now one out of just about every litter died.... (stuck... too small... etc)....and my girls are 5 pounds and above. I have never had to have a c-section on my girls..... but that time may come eventually....

Best of luck with you new little ones!
