| Day 62 and no milk yet!!... is this normal?? My little Zacha is on her day 62 of pregnancy and she isn’t producingmilk. She is been hiding under my Daughter’s bed forthe past 2 days but besides that no other signs of pre- labor so far. Last week(Thursday)I took her to the Vet and beside taking X-ray( showed only one puppy) he told me morethan likely she will be ready in a week andgave me some vitamins (Pet-Tabs Plus) .. But as of today no milk is this something normal for first timemothers? More info.. ..Since day one she is been on puppy food ( Royal Cannin )and since last week that she kind of lost her appetite a little bit, I’m mixingher dry food with Cesar Puppy W/chiken&Beef whet food. ..Also since last week GNC Ultra high calorie Booster once a day Thanks !! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | yes, some maiden bitches don't have milk until delivery day, i had a girl like that. by now she should be getting use to her whelping box. make sure when the singleton is born you help him feed from all the nipples, that way she will not get mastitis.. hugs, and wishing her a safe and fast whelping. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | It's not uncommon not to see milk before the pups are born, but that doesn't mean it's not there. At day 62, it's a good idea NOT to let her hide under beds or anywhere you can't get to her easily. She could very well go into (or already be) in very early unseeable stages of labor and could have that puppy under there before you know it. Keep her in your sight at all times and/or like Carmen mentioned, in her whelping box. If she is only carrying one puppy, you will want to be there as singletons can be larger than a litter of 2 or more. Good luck to you & your girl!

| It is not uncommon for them to not have milk before the puppies are born. Also, I have had girls that even when their milk was in - you couldn't express milk but the puppies had no problem nursing. It is also not uncommon for them to not be big eaters the last few days before the puppies are born. Also thier meals will also be smaller and more frequent. One puppy litters can be the hardest to whelp as the puppy tends to be larger than puppies of a multiple puppy litter. So if you are not experienced at pulling puppies, find someone in your area that is and that is willing to help with delivery if needed. Best of luck. Donating YT 4000 Club Member | So sorry for your loss, and by experience I can tell you that is not much you could have done for that situation, just to make sure your girl is ok, she will need a small toy to play with while mourning, and yes they mourn the loss of a puppy. hugs |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Aww geez, I am so very sorry to hear this news and am so sorry for your loss. Do not blame yourself; there is nothing you could have done differently to prevent this, it is just something that happens. Give Zacha lots of extra TLC (and that little "toy" baby) until she is back to herself. Sending you & she some hugs & prayers...........
