Yorkie Yakker | One Jealous Stud! My male yorkie (Storm) is so jealous of the amount of pampering my pregnant female is receiving. She is 58 days pregnant and needs the extra attention. this is her first litter and she can no longer get comfortable. Has to pee all of the time . Hee Hee. He gets a lot of attention, trust me, but for some reason he thinks he should be the only one to get any. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I separate them now? Thanks for all of your help. My breeder mentor said that I should just ignore his jealous whining. I just want everyone (fur-children) happy |

| For her comfort and safety i would already have him separated from her. She needs it quiet and safe right now, and i am sure she will need your attention more than ever. I agree with your mentor 100%, he will get over it once this is all over. Take care of your baby girl ! XOXO

| Yep. I second what smartpuppiepets said. Get them seperated now. If she's day 58 then you should already be taking her temp regularly as she could have those babies anytime now. You want her calm and isolated for the delivery. An anxious mommy could make your whelping a bit tougher as she'll be more apt to make quick movements, etc when your trying to help her, cut cords, etc. One thing to keep in mind is that if he is showing jealousy now, he may show jealousy towards the pups. Good luck! Hope everything goes well!

Yorkie Yakker | Thank you for your suggestions I wave been taking her temp for a few days. It is all over the place between 98.3 to 99.5. This morning it went to 101.9. now it is 99.5 (two hours later). This temp thing is driving me crazy. Thank goodness I will not be doing this alone. Her tummy is lumping quite frequently so I do not expect her to be pregnant much longer. I have removed the stud from the equation. I called my parents, who he absolutely loves, and they agreed to take him for a few days. They spoil him rotten, so I am not worried. However, before I took him to my mom's, I had a thought. Could he be trying to be overprotective of her and not wanting anyone near her because she is pregnant? I know that when we go on walks he places his body between everyone outside and her. Either way, it doesn't matter now. He is at my mom's. |
