Yorkie Yakker | Pregnant yorkie temperature issues ++Is she going into labor too early++ My yorkie is not due until the 22nd-24th, but she started acting funny this morning and her vulva was a little more swollen than normal (pregnancy). I decided to take her temp. It was 100.5, two hours later 99.7, two hours later 99.3, 99. I can't get my girl in to the vet until 3pm. I am totally freaking out. Is this normal for a yorkie to have a temp in the 99s? She normally (not pregnant) runs 101.5 to 102.5. Also she is not really wanting to eat food. I tried bribing her with all of her favorites for breakfast and she refused. Her tummy has already went to the saggy belly. Pups have moving all over the place for the past five or six days. It looks like waves. One baby will kick then the other then the other. Still a lot of activity with the babies inside even though temp has started to drop. I hope I am being paranoid and this is nothing. I know premature pups is not a good thing and survival of the pups would not be good 8 to10 days early. I have read lots of books and articles, but I was not ready for this to happen at this stage of pregnancy. i need to keep those precious babies in her. Any advice you could give me would be great. ++She was vet checked for all diseases and health genetic conditions as was the sire before breeding. they are great specimens of the breed. I had some of my other yorkies spade/neuter because of standard issues. I did not go into this to make money. I love the breed. and if you consider how much money I have spent trying to find the best I could find in the breed and giving them the best possible care I am in the hole by thousands. I am not doing any of this for money. |

| It sounds like she may be going into labor. I had deliveries that went perfect on day 56 , so usually i consider that anything may happen after day 56 . Any chance you may have missed the correct date and she may have tied a couple days earlier than what you recorded? I would take it to the vets anyways just to run a blood work and make sure all is perfect. Other than that if she is ready to labor i do not think i can give you any advice. There are a couple things that can cause early labor , but i do not want to jump into it to get you even more worried. Blessings. XOXO

| Sometimes the pups moving into position can mimic labor and that could be the reason also that she doesn't want to eat. The temp should drop to 98 and stay there before delivery, though I'm not a big one to go by temps. I've never had a litter before day 59 and, in that case, all pups were fine. I would worry about anything earlier. Has the area between her vulva and her behind expanded yet? Has she lost her mucous plug?

Yorkie Yakker | Thank you for all of your support. Not in Labor I went to the vet early and threw a fit (like you would your child in the ER) and made them see us. She is not in labor, however, x-rays were taken again. The x-rays reveal that she has 4 babies inside her. One large baby on one side (takes up her whole side) and three smaller ones. They said that her failure to want to eat could be from the pressure of the large one pressing on her intestines and ribs. I am so happy my baby is not in labor. New problem....Doc wants to try natural birth , but I may have to make a emergency trip if big one decides it is too big. My mentor breeder said that she would drive up here ( 2 hours away) on Monday and stay the week with me and my pregnant little girl. |

Yorkie Yakker | Still no Babies The wait is on! My little girl could deliver any day. This last week has taken forever to get here and yet, hear I am still waiting. I look at my girl and I honest believe I have sympathy pains for her. LOL. She is so big and the babies were so active that she could not get a comfortable moments rest. I will keep you posted when she goes into labor. |

Yorkie Yakker | This may be the day! My girl is off her food. She does not want treats, dog food, boiled chicken, turkey cold cuts, Nutrical, nothing. All she is doing is laying on her favorite blanket. Abdomen is getting hard intermittently. Her temp is 98.3, but that is not the lowest it has been. Throughout the week it dipped to 98 twice. The rest of the time it has been 99.5-101.5. At 11:30 last night she had a clearish/whitish discharge. She was licking herself constantly. Only time will tell. Wish us luck. | I would venture to guess that you are likely delivering or already have delivered puppies. Hope all is well and hoping for an update soon
