| Quick, strange question. I've been trying to look at Princess' breeder with a more educated mind than when I bought her. I found her website & she has a pic of the dam on her site that is listed under a different name than what is on my registration papers. Is that normal or did she just write any name on the papers or site? Just looking again it looks like both the dam & the sire are shown on the "female yorkies" page, with different names...so she just sent me a pic of 2 dams? This is actually becoming very irritating & I was hoping to give myself some peace of mind that Princess came from a decent breeder/home. Am I out of line to feel that way? Thanks for your input.

| Well, you need to judge your breeder. But to your first question i have one answer: It is very common for breeders to own dogs that have one name on the papers and are actually "called" a different name. I my self have one that came named a "horrible" name by her breeder, for very religious and personal reasons we hate the name, love the dog however and must respect the breeder's choice on that one, we just have a Calling name for her, however, any litters she produced ( she is now retired) had her original name on her papers. This happened because the breeder i got her from at that time always registered all puppies and named all of them but i often see breeders that have a "fancy" name on the papers and pedigrees and use a more "pet friendly" calling name to their dogs. Now , the pictures mess is something you need to resolve between yourself and the breeder. Best of luck and Blessings. XOXO

| As mentioned it is common to have a registered name and a call name that is different. Although most breeders will have their call name somewhere in their registered name in some form. Also if the breeder already registered the pup themselves and then sold the pup the name would be different. For example I have a boy I call Brownie. I got him from a breeder but he was named Benny. So on his registration papers he is called "All About Benny Benjamin" but I have him listed on my site as "Brownie" which would make you think it was two different dogs but it is not. One is just a registered name and one is a call/pet name. Of course I put both call names and registered names on my website so there is no confusion but I know many don't do that. As for the pictures, that could be a website error or she sent you the wrong pictures by accident, it happens. All you can do is ask her about it and have her clarify. How well do you trust your breeder? Do they live up to all your standards?

| Would you feel comfortable posting her website link or PMing her website link so we could see what you are describing?

| I think it is something you need to take up with her and see how she responds. She could have misnamed pictures on her computer and thought she sent you the dam and sire and accidentally sent you two different dams. Or she could be trying to pull the wool over your eyes- you won't truly know until you see what she says. Are there other things that raise red flags in your opinion?

| I understand now about the "called" name & the reg. name, though they are not similar in any way. I just didn't like it that Princess was born last Jan.('10) & both of her parents aren't on the site. But as I was looking at the pics, and I'll try to just post the pic, don't really want any issues just some clarification, one of the females looks exactly like the one I have posted in my album. Looking harder I see the sire is the dog sitting next to her on the couch of four but my pic is cropped to show the 2. It was taken at the same time, you can tell by the poses. I took a pic of the screen as I can't save the pic. The 4 are the females & the other added one in the lower part is the female on the couch as well. If you look in Princess' Puppy Album there no mistaking that's who they are. She only has one pic of a sire, he looks very young, though I don't know for sure. As for trusting her, of course I did initially. I did my research the best I could on what to look for in a breeder. I did not really read anything here until she was home. I got her at 9.5 weeks, I had read it was ok between 10-12 & the breeder assured me it was fine. No health guarantee, she just said her lines had no probs which may be true, & to get a hold of her if anything arises. Thank God Princess has been in stellar health, knock on wood. But I did try to contact her several times to see how big her parents were to get an idea about Princess possibly. Lot's of emails & even FB msgs. & no replies. She was selling her runt for $50 more than the rest, I knew to stay away from tiny ones, but it didn't hit me as a red flag that she would charge more for it. I picked Princess first & she happened to be the biggest one, which I was happy about. I never did get to see her house as she lives 4 hours away and brought her to me on her way out of town. She also raises Irish Wolfhounds & I did know that, not sure if that's a prob or not. Prior to the exchange, we did talk on the phone a LOT...I asked a million questions about Princess as she was my first dog & I didn't know anything about yorkies. She never seemed put off by the questions, warned me about hypoglycemia, sent forti-cal, toys, etc. with Princess as well as first shot & deworming records. This may sound trivial but for instance she told me to microwave an egg over kibble for Princess in the AM, she loves it. Princess hated it, hates eggs prepared any way. It just made me think she was telling me what would make her look better or something. So I finally find her....on petfind.com. She's selling yorkies & poms and pretty cheap. That led me to the website with the pics. It's just annoying to me because I tried very hard to be an educated buyer & just feel duped by what I am finding out about her. They're not terrible things, but it does sound like a BYB operation to me, maybe & hopefully I'm wrong. It just would've been nice to be able to refer people to where I got my great dog & also be able to return to her if/when I got another.

| I think I see what you are saying...The pic of the four are supposed to be four females on the website, while you have a pic in your album of the sire/dam of Princess - and the pic of the sire/dam is cropped from the pic of the four females on the website. Do I have it?

I think if I were in your shoes I would thank my lucky stars that your baby is healthy and happy and hold off on recommending this breeder to anyone else.

| Yes, I think definitely when looking at everything all at once things are not the way they seemed, or they way I wanted them to seem. I am very thankful she has been healthy so far & I pray it stays that way. Just what if it doesn't...she'll probably be M.I.A. if I wanted to bring it to her attention. I definitely know what to look for now & will probably get second & third opinions as well before I made another commitment. I don't foresee a new one any time soon or anything. Thanks for the input.
