Default is he worth breeding

this is sampson these are some pics of him as soon as my batteries charge i will get some better ones up. my question is is sampson a good candidate for breeding? please all comments welcome even if there not good comments. i want honest answers please!! the only thing to add to sampsons backround is that he is perfectly healthy, his ears arent up because of me, and there was some father daughter inbreeding done in his pedigree? breeders info would be great but i will take anyones opinion.

Well, I am certainly no expert. But, having said that and watching my own past posts where I have have waited and waited for someone to reply and it not happen, I just thought I would put a couple comments out back to you.
Sampson is a very beautiful boy. I can definitely see where the name Sampson came from . Some problems you may experience in breeding Sampson are, due to his size you would need to find a female at least a couple of pounds or basically bigger than him to avoid ANY delivery complications that could arise for the mother due to the fact that he will most probably throw big pups. Another problem would be the history of inbreeding in his background may produce genetic defects (liver shunts, knee problems, etc) with the pups. Lastly, in my experience, many people looking for puppies are more interested in the ones that will be in the size of at least 4 - 6 lbs full grown, so you might have a problem locating good homes for the pups or ending up with a house full - which could become costly to you. Anyway, good luck with your decision.

I'm just curious -- why do you want to breed him?

Sampson is a very cute guy, don't get me wrong...but, if I were faced to either use him as a stud or skip the breeding, I would skip the breeding. Sampson is larger than I like. With him standing as he is, it's really hard to tell if his back legs are longer than the front and vice versa. His face is longer than I'd like and his ears are too large. Has he had a hair cut or is that the longest it's ever grown.

I'm sure that Sampson is everything you've ever dreamed of. He looks like a total sweetheart. I just like certain looks and I'm not finding those in Sampson. I know that all of that sounds bad and I'm sorry if your feelings were hurt. You asked for an honest opinion and I gave you one. But all of this is JUST MY OPINION. The next breeder may love his look and everything about him.

And also, someone may not like how my yorkies look...and that's okay. Everyone has a preference and is entitled to their opinion.

I believe she posted before that he weighs 4.5 lbs @ 11 months...though he does look bigger in the pics. If you can get him stacked in a photo it would be easier to see his conformation. From these he looks to be a very sweet, pet quality boy. His gold isn't clear on his head, but that could be age... Coat, modified? Ears large and down, taping wouldn't have made them smaller...
Check some on the show pics thread, especially feminvstr, wnalegrias and check some show breeder's websites (Pat's is Primrose Yorkies) for comparisons.
I'm not an expert, this is jmo.

You want frank opinions, please take it for evaluation not a slam against your little man.

First its so difficult to tell so much in pictures if you read the AKC breed standard there are many things that do not match up.
Mind you these opinions are from pictures.
it appears
he's over the 7lbs weight standard (if not sorry its the pics then)
his outward body assembly doesnt represent the standard
legs look very long - standard is 9 "
body looks long - standard is 9"
neck looks long - muzzle looks long, wide and down
ears down and oversized
he has no tail set
his top line is sloped

sorry for the honesty but he is pure loveable hugable pet quality! Not a good prospect for breeding at all.

Default dog

He is very cute. But I really think you should get him fixed. It is VERY hard to have a pet AND a stud. You have to really pick one or the other. Having a stud is very difficult on you and the carpet. After he has mated he will change. He is more likely to mark and uhm... mate with your leg or various objects (trying to put this nicely.) When my pug was only 5 months old and only a week before he was to be fixed he started to TRY to do the deed with my neighbor's spaded lab/pointer mix. It was SOOOO embarrassing because the kids were outside playing and I thought Bailey was too young to do that. Dogs live healthier and happier lives when they've been fixed. We all want our pets to live as long as possible.
I think he also looks big and you will have to find a female bigger which is hard to do and the pups will be VERY hard to sell if they're are going to be above the breed standard.

well 1 reason is i would like to see what him and my female will produce.
second because i would like to keep one of there pups for myself and my 2 nieces want one but mom doent just go forking over 1000 dollars a pup. if i can learn enough i kind of want to be a breeder in the future but educating myself comes first.

Default male

You want an honest and frank opinion. I have 35 years experince breeding, so I hope that qualifies me to give an opinion.
Your male is not breed quality. The main goal of breeding is to improve the breed. You must take the standard and compare to your male.

Kimberly has listed some of his faults and I do not need to add. Your boy is a wonderful pet I am sure and should be neutered..IMO. If he was sold to you as a breed prospect, I feel you should contact the breeder and they should compensate you.
That was harsh, but honest, sorry.

its the pics that must be making him look big but i also have took out the measuring ruler thanks for your response. i can see what you mean about a couple things there that you stated. he is 4.5 lbs and someone else asked if i had a bigger female she is 7 lbs.all of sampsons brothers and sisters from the last litter his mom had all turned out to be about the same wait if not smaller. please keep the replys comming so far it looks like its not such a good idea to breed him. is it still bad to breed him to get my own pet quality pups i already have a home for 4 of them and i really wanted another yorkie just for myself.i feel selfish even asking
