Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Tail docking and Crufts. As tail docking is now banned in the UK we will begin to see less and less dogs with docked tails competing at Crufts in the coming years. The Crufts website states that if your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 (28th March for shows in Wales) then it may compete at all Kennel Club licensed events. If your dog was docked on or after 6th April 2007 (28th March for shows held in Wales and irrespective of where it was docked) it will not, under the law, be permitted to be shown at any show in England or Wales where the public are admitted on payment of a fee. So as the years go on eventually there will be no dogs with docked tails shown at Crufts. It seems the Kennel Club have also changed their breed standard Yorkshire Terrier Breed Standard - The Kennel Club it now says: Tail Previously customarily docked Docked: Medium length with plenty of hair, darker blue in colour than rest of body, especially at end of tail. Carried a little higher than level of back. Undocked: Plenty of hair, darker blue in colour than rest of body, especially at end of tail. Carried a little higher than level of back. As straight as possible. Length to give a well balanced appearance. Do you think the AKC will follow? Also did anyone else watch this years Crufts on TV? The best in breed Yorkie was beautiful! Poppy actually watched the show too, Ive never seen her watch TV before but she was glued to the screen. She actually let out a little growl when the best in breed boxer appeared hehe! Anyway would love to hear your thoughts on the whole tail docking stuff!

| A long as we are permitted to dock tails in the USA, I will comply with the standard..when it is banned, I will not dock...by then I will no doubt be dead, so it is a moot point. |

There is also a difference of European law and USA law when selling a pup. European's do not have control once a pup leaves it's possession. There is no limited or full registration....only full registration and the buyer has control.

| Absolutely. It amazes me that so many are stuck on the docking thing and that we should follow in the steps of the European.....Europeans do not test and of course there is the factor that once a dog is sold there is no control....so, their lines are in the hands of the unscrupulous. Oh! and their is the other little thing is that they hold "Stud Auctions", how about that one.
