| Breeder Question Hello, I am new here and I have been looking into getting a sister for my 3 yr old yorkie. I have a friend who got one in Columbus, OHIO from Affordable Pups. I checked their web site. there are numerous testimonials that are positive and she was very happy too. Have any of you had any experience with this company? She drove there and picked him up too and said the facility was wonderful and clean, etc.. thanks |

| Hmmmm, Hi, In my opinion (I of course am no expert and haven't been there personally) it kinda screams puppy mill. There are too many puppies for sale at any given time and they have one of them 'on sale' for 'one day only'! These are living creatures, and babies to the likes of you, me and all the other Members here- they are a way to make money to people who run mills. As for the testimonials, if you set up a business website, would you include Bad reviews? Even their name is a red flag to me; affordable puppies- not healthy puppies or perfect breed standard puppies (but of course they aren't that because they are TEACUPS). And they are cheap, have you asked yourself why that is? Or better still, asked them? I'm glad your friends puppy is doing alright, but that may not be the story you would come back on here with... I'm on my phone not pc so didn't check out the contract/garentee- does it protect puppy and buyer or just the 'breeders'? Clean is a good sign, but not nearly enough- you can be sparkling clean, but if you have a genetic health problem getting passed along, or general vetcare being overlooked due to sheer volume of dogs, clean isn't really enough... I'm sure someone with better mill-spotting abilities will answer soon, and check it Fully out, but even the fact you are asking about it shows you are not sure... And you have to be 100% about your breeder first, so keep checking around, the ritght puppy will come along soon for you!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Looks like they've had 13 complaints filed with the BBB in the last 3 years: BBB Review of Affordable Pups in Johnstown, OH Is this their site? Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier, Yorkie, Cavalier and Pomeranian Teacup Puppies at Affordable Pups If so, they are puppy brokers. Their health guarantee is basically worthless- only credit towards the purchase of a new pup.

| Ditto what everyone else has said. But good luck with your search for a new puppy. There are many reputable breeders in NY. If you check out YTCA you will find some of them listed there. Also feel free to pm me. I have met some very nice show breeders (I'm new to the show world) and I would be happy to give you some names. |

| I'd say try the YTCA website for reputable breeders in your area. Please be very very cautious when finding a breeder. There are A LOT of mills in our area (I'm not too too far from Jamestown). There are a HUGE number in PA and in certain areas of NYS. Avoid paper ads or online ads that have red flags as we call them (you can find a lot of reading on them here). I'd also like to point out that just because they PM you on YT doesn't make them a reputable breeder either. We've had scammers and millers floating around here lately . A safeguard against this would be to ask them to post offers publicly on your thread or ask around about them. No matter what, just make sure you DO YOUR RESEARCH. Remember, buy your breeder first and the pup second. I flew across the country for my breeder, but I was comfortable with her and satisfied that she was NOT bad news. Good luck with your pup search! There are a lot of wonderful resources here on YT. |

| like everyone else has said...sounds like a broker for a puppymill to me. they may rent a "nice" place for the public to come see the puppies...but that absolutely no indication of how the breeding males and females are kept. when there is a broker involved, it screams puppymill! any purchase from a mill directly supports the suffering of thousands of breeding dogs.... in case you are interested in rescuing a baby in need of a home, check out some of these yorkie rescues! there is nothing more rewarding than helping a pet in need! | Nothing to add about the breeder except I'm amazed that anyone would put puppies on the carpet to play. I don't even have a single carpet in my house. |

| Thanks to all who replied. I most likely had made up my mind by the time I posted this thread... but sometimes I need to "hear myself think" LOL. I was pretty sure this was a mill too but I tend to be rather gullable and waaaayyy too trusting of ppl because I was raised that you treat ppl the way you want to be treated. If I had the means I would have a rescue with lots of Dogs because I love animals. alas I do not sooo I am unable to forsee helping in a way I would like but I think I will call tomorrow and get on the waiting list for the breeder where COOPER came from. She only has 1-2 litters a year but raises them in her home and they have great dogs. My hesitation has been that she doesn't often have many female's and that is what I want this time her waiting list ppl usually want females too. her last 2 litters were only 3 male and 1 female. Anyway thanks for everyone's input. Happy New Year! |
