Omg Please don't judge...need help!!

I will try to make this short. My Maddie is (or was) going through her first heat. I DO NOT want her having pups right now. I have been super careful with keeping her and Monkey (my male) apart. She has always had her "lady suit" on (panties) if I am home and if I leave, I make sure to lock Monkey (my male) in his crate. Well...I was called to a VERY important audition for a show and I was super nervous all day, practicing, etc. When I left my home, I put Monkey in his crate as usual and left my girl out. When I returned, they were both just frolicking all over the place like they owned it...I FREAKED OUT! I must have not locked the crate properly! They had been at home for 5 HOURS!!!! I don't know what went on!!! I don't know if I'm being paranoid, but everything she does now makes me think she could be pregnant . This is not something I want. I know how dangerous it is for her to be "prego" at this early point. I want to know how soon she would show "symptoms" and if she is "prego", can I abort?? What do I do?? I don't want to lose my girl!! She is still a baby (9.5 months).

Not judging, accidents happen even when you're careful. Call your vet for info about morning after and get their take on the situation. How big is she?
Also, continue to keep them separated, just in case you got lucky and nothing happened.

Call your vet. They can give her a shot to make her abort. Don't know how far along she is but you need to do it quickly.

She is 5 lbs right now. She was in her second week I believe (no longer bleeding). She would have allowed him to mount her. This was about 2 weeks ago. I called my vet and told him the situation. All he said was that it was a risk for all dogs just like it is for humans and that there is no way to tell if she would really be in trouble until around 56 days. I don't know why he didn't inform me of this morning after shot. I'm a little angry to be honest. I am going to call him again right now.

I also want to thank you for your replies I was a little nervous mentioning this to everyone. I have this terrible feeling of being irresponsible

I would also call a couple of different vets. Doesn't hurt to get a second opinion.

Okay...spoke to my girl's vet and two others. They all say that there is no such thing as a "morning after" shot for dogs Maybe they don't have them in CA? According to all, I just have to wait and see. I can go in at around 26 days to see if she actually has any pups in there. They also say that it doesn't matter how young she is. If she's gone into heat she can have puppies, it's just the matter of the size of the pups that is the risk. I still think she's a baby though. I guess I just have to wait it out

Hmmmmmm...so is there a "morning after" shot or not? Why would some vets have it and not others?

Missy and Max did the deed and she didnt get pregnant. I was just as worried as you were and luckily there was nothing to worry about after all. Hopefully your female isnt pregnant but if she is I am sure by being under the vets care and with advice from the wonderful breeders on this forum everything will go smoothly. Keep us posted !

Okay. Just got off the phone with my vet...the shot is given within 48 hours of the initial breeding. It's called an ECP shot. There are some side effects along with it...it can throw the bitch back into heat and sometimes death can occur.

No it doesn't. The first vet didn't tell me about the death thing but the second one I called (yes, I use 3 vets...LOL) warned me about the death thing and the vet will sit down the owners and talk to them about the risks and let the owners decide from there.

Oh WOW! That would be really hard to know what to do!! She could die either way At least she is five pounds so she will have that going for her IF she has puppies. Hopefully nothing happened! Then you have to think if you should put her through the shot if nothing happened in the first place!
