Senior Yorkie Talker | Can a pregnant dog get rabies shots? I'm taking my yorkie to the vet in the morning for an X-Ray to see how many puppies she is having. I spoke with the vet and told me that she is due for her rabies shot and told me that it would be fine that she is on her 50th day of pregnancy to have her shot. I'm not to sure about this, Can anyone Please tell me if it's ok for her to have her rabies shot while pregnant? |

| Im not a breeder but I would wait on the shot. I have had cats that have had kittens and I know it can be dangerous to just put flea meds on them when they are pregnant so I wouldnt vaccinate during that time

| I would wait until after the litter is born and weaned. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Please wait til after she has the puppies. Just to be on the safe side, I am sure you would be devastated if anything happened to those puppies because of getting the rabies shot. Just tell your vet that you would feel more comfortable waiting til after the pups are born.

Senior Yorkie Talker | your right, I don't feel comfortable her having her shot, I'll just wait til after she stops breast feeding the puppies. I'll just take her in to have her X-Ray taken and see how many puppies she will be having. |

i am glad to hear that you decided to wait. Also , the recommendation is not to give vaccinations made with modified live virus to pregnant dogs, just so if you are curious. XOXO

| Good for you. There is no need to hurry into a vaccine that will do no harm to wait a few extra weeks on. Just have it done when the pups are weaned. Much less worry then.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks everyone, I just got back from the vet and I'm so glad I didn't have Chanel get her Rabies shot. She had her X-Ray taken and it shows 3 aimeeyork puppies, I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!! |
