My vet told me that neutering a doggie with undescended testicles is more complicated and more expensive.
I don't see why he wouldn't make a wonderful pet. Good luck!!

By 8 -10 weeks a Vet can tell you if he can feel them.
By 9 months you should know if both dropped.
2 years it isn't going to happen.
I would consult a Vet. I do know there is a name for this gentic problem, can't think of it now. Unfortunately he needs to be neutered.
The undescending testicles are known to cause cancer.
As far as surgery, my Vet told me it would be the same as neutering the dog.
Again consult your Vet.
Sorry to tell you this, I was informed this pass Sept. that one of the pups I sold last year has 1 non-descending testicle. My friend who I sold him to, told me all about what I wrote above.
I called my Vet to confirm this, and it's a hereditary genetic defect.
Infact all suggestions is your dogs parents are suppose to be neutered and spayed. All indications are that the gene came from them.
As far as price, not sure. He should be neutered, the gene can be passed down and you surely don't want that. I personally would take care of this before I sell him, just incase.
Good luck, I am sure he still will be an excellant pet. All yorkies are.

Robin, I don't know what Yorkies are going for in your area. Around here the boy might have brought a thousand or so. I bought a sweet little choc and was planning to use him with one of my Biewers. He was $1200.00 and was fully registered with AKC. Turns out he had one descended testicle and he would have been a happier puppy in a one-doggy home as a pet. My friend had a Lhaso who was very ill and they turned out to be the perfect family so I placed him as a rescue. He has been neutered and is so loved and even more spoiled..
These males can be a real expense when this happens...

I would not sell him too higher price because the new owner will have to pay for the surgery .

I think a 2 year old male like this I would fix prior to placing. That way I would be sure there is no problem with the testicles being retained this long.
I don't think I would charge anyone much more than vet costs at that age either.

I hope you find just the right home for him.

I found the name of this condition, "Cryptorchidism". Now I am not diagnosing your dogs condition. Just it seems to have the same problem.
Again, he needs to be seen by a Vet.

the deal with Cryptorchidim that i am aware of is that your males sire should of had it or your Sire's sire ... when we raised Quarterhorses we would find a wonderful stud that was AQHA and foundation reg and take a look to see one testie droped ... with horses they are not registerable with this disorder i would think if you dont do the surgery and you leave it up to the new parents you run the risk of them not caring that they are passing on "flawed" Gene's for $$$ a two year old pet is .. what 400 to 500 dollars or free in CA ... dont know about where you live. good luck finding a good home for the guy

Default cost

I have had this happen with one testicule a few times, most long time breeders have ....I ask to speak with the new owners vet and tell them the situation. I ask the vet the cost and then remove that amount from the price of the pup..or ask the new owner to go to my vet and I pay the bill myself. In that case I do not deduct any monies from the price of the pup..why would I, the pet was going to be neutered whether he has two, one or no testicules. It is still the same quality pet when it is over.

Default hi

i just had my male nutered last week for this problem it is called CRYPTORCHID if you google this it has very good information on the type of cancer they can get from it, it is called SERTOLI CELL TUMOR and also says that if both of the testicals fail to drop they are most likely to be steril . but for the sake of your dog please get him nutered soon. the vet said she had to really search for one of munch's therefore she had to make a larger cut on him but he is doing fine now 1 week after his surgery. so please nuter him and dont pass this on to someone else to take care of or someone that may not take the time to have the problem fixed at all. thanks lynne

i think he'd make a great pet. is it imperative that he's neutered?

I've heard that if their testicles do not desend they have a higher chance of getting testicular cancer. That's why most people will have them removed.
