| Good luck with the whelping. You need to stay right with the momma and help when the pup comes out. I always break the sack and cut the cord myself. I don't want to take any chances that the mom will accidentally cut the cord to short or chew off a foot. Usually once the hard contractions start the pup will be born within an hour. Please keep us posted. |

| This is the older mom who is having her first liter at age four? And expecting 7 puppies? I'd be on the phone with my vet at the first sign of anything not going smoothly! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank Goodness Ok Gezell had 5 puppies. I think she is done. I still waiting for a sixth just in case. She did good. The first one was nerve wrecking. I had to cut the cord and all. After that she did it most of it. I couldnt wait for her to break the sac open so I helped with each one. The smallest is 4.9oz and the largest is 6oz. The umbilical cords are the only thing im concerned about. I have contacted my Vet several times..Do the cords stay about 1" long and then fall off? Thanks for all your help YT....

Senior Yorkie Talker | after the only thing is I want to move her from my closet to the whelping box so I can clean up. It took two of the puppies forever to latch on so i dont wanna seperate them yet. I think one is having a problem latching on. I tried showing him the nipple several times...

Senior Yorkie Talker | 5 not 7 now It was seven but she lost one and it was going through the absorption process. I guess vet was wrong or she lost two. No jelly sacs came out at all though.

| If there is puppies up in her dead they need to come out, they will not absorb on there own, it will cause infection and kill your mother.

Senior Yorkie Talker | wow I called my Vet earlier and told him 5 puppies she had. He did not say anything about the one we lost. He did say he could have been mistaken on the ultrasound of 7 because it was hard to keep track. Still there was one she lost in her about day 30. She is panting on and off but is eating and drinking. Of course my vet is closed. wow now Im nervous again!! I will call the emergency vet..thank you...glad vets arent breeders..
