| Anyone have experience with Doxie's? My friend and her husband are looking to add a little Dox to their household. She is looking for a miniature dox (don't know if it even exists??) that won't be more than 5 lbs. Does anyone know anything about this fine breed and what they should look out for? I'd like to give her a much info as possible before they purchase. Anything you can give me would be much appreciated. |

Noone came to claim it so he found a home for it. I dont really know much about them other then what they look like. Sorry im no help. Im sure someone will know some thing more about them. |

| What exactly would you like to know? Since the day I was born 43 years ago we have always owned doxies. 5 pounds is really way small for even a miniture doxie. All of mine have usually weighed between 7 and 10 pounds. They are also very loyal little dogs that bond closer with one person but get along with the rest of the family. They are not always but can be rather snappy with small children. Mine is with strangers but not with anyone in the family including my grand children who he rarely sees. Every one we have ever had has been HORRIBLE to house train. You have to be very careful in allowing them to jump from anything because of their shape they are very prone to back injuries. Other than that health wise they are pretty sturdy little dogs. My Oscar is 9 years old and is experiencing some back problems but this is the first thing he has needed in regard to medical attention besides his annual checks and shots.

| Doxies I have bred Doxies..for about 7 yrs I had both Yorks and Dox's..what a terrific breed. Unlike Yorks they do come in size catagories, miniature and standard. I never had any under 7 pounds at maturity. Go to Breeders.net and check out a breeder near you. Best to visit. I have a photo of my two girls who are at Rainbow Bridge on my web site...Sammie and Sabrina. |

| Thanks so much ladies. I will check out breeder.net and if I have any ??? I'll come back looking for you. They have a daughter who is my son's age so I'll talk to her about how they are with children. I'm cuious about these dogs because my hubby really likes them and wanted to get one years ago but then I found out I was pregnant and thought better of adding another dog to the household at that time. Our families spend a lot of time together so he will also be a playmate for Chewy! |

| Gerry, My mom always had Doxies when I was growing up. They're sweet! One of my best friends has a couple and got them from one of her in-laws who is local and breeds them. If you're really interested, I'll see if she has any pups or plans on any soon. It's only about an hours drive from NYC...
