Senior Yorkie Talker | How will the puppies turn out?! I am a little unsure about whether or not I should get another Yorkie. I already have a little female who is 7 months old and spends a lot of time alone during the day which just kills me and I feel like a male would calm her down a little and give her some much needed company while I am out. Yesterday the breeder I got my female from just happened to contact me to tell me she has a new litter of pups available 6 May 2010. I wish she hadn't because now I'm totoally unsure! I am 100% happy with my female, but these puppies are from different parents and are not related to her at all so I was wondering how they will look when they grow up. It's so hard to tell because every Yorkie has a slightly different look. She says the males will be about 2 kg (about 4 pounds) which I am happy with. Initially her mother in law bred the puppies but she immigrated and has handed her dogs over to the duaghter in law and honestly I think the daughter in law is a better breeder. They told me my female would be about that size and she is 2.2kg at 7 months so I'm happy with that. cid_Photo0035.jpg cid_Photo-0053 (2) (1).jpg These are the parents - the full body shot is the mommy and the facial shot is the dad. Any ideas if the babies will be decent stock? I have not seen the puppies yet and I will guess they are only 3 or 4 weeks now so it's not easy to tell at that age. financially I should not get another one just yet and I'm sure there will be others available in future but my boyfriend has actually agreed with no issue for us to have 2 and it's a rare opportunity! lol! Previously he said only 1 dog! Im scared he changes his mind! ha ha! Any thoughts on the puppy's look? My female is very silver and i think these ones will be silver too.

| i guess i'm confused - if you want the puppy for a pet, and for a companion to the yorkie you have - what is the concern about exactly how he will look? do you plan to breed? |

Senior Yorkie Talker | No I'm not a breeder - I would just like some opinions on his breeding. He carries quite a big price tag so I would like to know if what im paying for is worth my money. I paid less for my female strangely enough from the same breeder and from a better sire. was just looking for some opinions really...

| if he's a good puppy and would make a good companion, i'd say it's worth it, but that's just MY opinion. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | The babies are just 2 1/2 weeks old so it's hard to tell right now and she has a waiting list normally so I don't want to miss out either. If i wait until he's older to see his personailty etc I will lose out. But I'm going on monday to see them and I'm hoping they're as perfect as my lasy baby

| I looked much better as a baby than I do now. So what if they look different. I look nothing like my brother. He is 6'5 and 235. I am 160 and vertically challenged. We still get along, even though I am thinking we might have different Dads. |

| There is absolutely no guarantee how it will look. You need to also look at the grandparents as well, since often looks can skip a generation. I would go with your gut and whether or not you guys are ready. If is is a good match for time and money and you feel good about it - go for it. If you have second reservations, best to wait. There will always be another pup later. Best to get a pup for you and not as a companion for your dog. A dog for your dog - doesn't make too much sense to me. |

| I know it is very tempting to get a second dog now and no reason not to get a second one, but the one you have is still a puppy and you have lots of puppyhood left to enjoy. Are you sure you are ready for all the baths and grooming of both dogs? On the flip side, at least you would each have a lap dog and may not have to share!

| just a tip the breeder should not have visitors until the pups have started receiving vaccinations....reason being is the bacteria that could invade the puppies..it sounds like they arent age appropriate for the vaccination just yet..an if you were to place a deposit and the breeder allowed people to come by then she is putting your puppy at risk and your pocket book..if he/she gets sick and its shows up after he/she is home and the medical bills start rolling in..ouch to the pocket book! |
