| Are people just breeding anything??? What is up with people.I was looking on the kijiji site. I have never seen so many people selling what they call, DESIGNER , dogs .And they post them as ,maltese ,poodle, shih-tzu ,yorkie, .And the list goes on .But when you click on it to read it states ,Again DESIGNER ,.Poor poodles are being breed to death. If it keeps on i true breeds are going to be are to find .Don't get me wrong. I love all dogs .I just think people should post what they are from the start .And leave ,TEACUP -POCKET -AND DESIGNER OUT OF IT.Because the only time a dog fits in you pocket or a teacup is when it is a fews wks. old .SO WHAT HAPPENS TO IT WHEN IT NO LONGER FITS . THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THE SHELTERS ARE SO FULL .Thanks FOR LETTING ME SHARE MY THOUGHTS...PLEASE DON'T YELL AT ME TO MUCH. |

| I agree! I grew up with toy poodles, my family still has them, they are awesome little dogs and it is really sad to see them mixed with everything under the sun.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I agree also...and add to that...people who have two "name the breed here"...and breed them reqardless if they are breeding quality or not. This is one reason so many yorkies...do not resemble yorkies. It's disturbing and sad what's been done to this breed.

This thread has me thinking of the other thread where that OP had her Yorkiepoo DNA'd and it came back as a mix of about 4-5 dogs. You can't even trust them to be selling the mixes they claim to be!

| I agree! My sister has a dog (not a yorkie) adopted from the shelter and the helper had assured her that it would be only about 8-10 pounds. Because my sister is a petite person, she couldn't physically handle a larger dog. Well, that 5lbs turned out to be 30....and she has her hands full and has worked with the dog very hard to train it so she can feel comfortable. |

| I am outraged by the amount of cross breeding, mixed breeding, what ever you want to call it! Then these "designer" breeds get placed with no spay/neuter, oops pregnancies happen and the cycle continues! That is why our shelters have an abundance of dogs! Not to mention, the public needs to be a little more educated as to what they are purchasing, not just because the puppy is cute!

I totally agree!!!! I can't believe the names some of these people come up with. Like hybrid (spelling???), Micro mini. What the heck is that? Sounds like a toy you get from a kids meal??? IDK, I am so grateful YT is here to educate.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I couldn't agree more, I think it due in part to the public being so ignorant about dog breeding in general. Purebreds are no better than mutts, it just that breeders can predict the offspring with some certainty, and because of this, the grown dog is more likely to fit owners expectations. With mixes, you just don't know what you will get as an adult, and some people are so disappointed, and the dog goes off to the pound. I think these people are jerks, and the dogs are the ones who suffer. I read one thread where someone stated that their yorkie was a purebred, and her breeder called it a "high bred". I'm not sure what she thought was the definition of high bred, but the word she was looking for was probably hybrid, which means mixed breed. Breeders who breed mixes are NEVER reputable. Personally, I would stay away from kijiji ads, no good breeder would advertise there.

| I agree 1000%! It espeially makes me sick when people breed dogs and they are obviously a poorly bred example of the breed. One of my pet peeves is yorkies that look like chihuahuas. It's terrible what people breed. |

Makes me wonder if they are breeding yorkie to chi to get the smaller size. As if our yorkies arent small enough as it is.
