First off, sorry this is not Yorkie related exactly but I figured those here would understand. We have an Aust. Shepherd, Stormie, who had her first litter back in August. We kept a male out of that litter and will hopefully (depending on how he checks out as he grows up) be using him as a stud later - but so far everyone agrees that he looks awesome. They both come from really great working dog lines and the litter was much anticipated by the working dog community. Two even went to Germany to be hopefully trialed in the future. Anyway, Blaze (our male) is now 6 months old and Stormie has come into heat again. We are not breeding her this heat but have plans to breed with the same stud at her next heat. So, the part that breaks my heart is that for the last 6 months, these pups have been side by side 24 hours a day running and playing all over our property and sleeping together at night and now they have to be separated. We're out in the country so they have a lot of running room but make their beds in the garage (with a heat lamp in cold weather) at night - mostly because if not, they would bark at the country critters all night. Now they are in separate kennels outside (large run kennels) with their heat lamps and they can only make eyes at each other all day. They get taken out separately and given time to run and play but only with constant supervision. It's just so sad to think that they don't understand now why they are confined separately. I feel bad for them that they might think they are in trouble or something. These next few weeks are going to go by so slowly.
