First mating looking painful for the female. So Astra is on heat, she is 21 months and I am going to breed her for the first time. She is around day 11-13, extremely swollen and she is presenting to Tom Pouce since this morning. Tom Pouce try a few time but Astra YELL really bad each time he try to enter her. They keep trying on and off for the pass 2 hours until I separate them a few minutes ago. I never had a female yelling before when mating even when it was their first time. I am wondering if it is ok to let them try now? I don't want her to be hurt. Should I keep them separated for an other day or 2? Or maybe wait for her 3rd heat?

I find it best to use a gloved, lubed finger and dilate a virgin bitch if she is skiddish...works wonders for mine.

Screaming is usually a fear response, not pain. Ever watched a a whelping...first timers can yelp and cry...then suddenly they have a puppy and a light bulb goes on in their head and the rest is mostly calm and quiet... Some times a virgin bitch will scream just by putting your hand on her butt when she is in season...that's when I know she is fearful...sounds heartless, but you have to ignore her protests...not all KNOW they are ready until they are bred...rarely had one protest with the second breeding the next few days...or so...

This is the reason why you take the female to the male's home to be breed. Not the other way around. Sometimes a female can be very agressive toward the male and snap at the male. Op - I know this is not your case since you own both the male and female. You may want to try and take the female to a part of the house she is not as familar with and this may also help.

I know this can upset pet owners who read this...but a soft muzzle usually has a submissive effect on a bitch.

| I've wrapped a silk scarf around the muzzle and that's helped.....But, after a first breeding I don't have the problem......most of my girls are hussies.

After the first tie all goes well, I will help and hold her comforting if i have to ... comforting only not "making her accept" as she may not be ready after all, usually a little comforting works well. I heard about the lube, people who will use a little KY jelly on the females vulva... i never used it but it will not hurt i guess... Hum... a jackuzzi love making for the wet doggies... sounds a little Xrated but also sounds like the doggies would enjoy it KKKKKK
