| dock or not? advice? I am having a hard time with this decision. Are there any other breeders that don't dock the tails? I have a 1 forever home that already wants me to leave the tail natural. I know that AKC standard is to dock the tail. I am not sure what way to go with the rest of my babies??? I will have the dew claws done forsure. Would it be bad to leave the tails? maybe some of each? |

| I am not a breeder nor do I show dogs, but if I had my choice I would not want the tail docked. My lil biewer Bogie of course has his tail and it is so beautiful. I wish it wasn't the standard for the yorkie, but what do you do? That would be a tough decision.good luck

| I also prefer the tails docked. My Sassy is due in a few days and her puppies will have the tails docked when they are 3 days old. I love the little tails |

| I dont even know what an undocked yorkie tail looks like. If you feel strongly about not docking and your puppies will be pet onlys then just go with your gut. |

| You're the breeder...your choice. I can tell you that if I was rescuing or whatever, I'd take a Yorkie with a full tail. But I would most likely only go to a breeder for an AKC registered Yorkie. And if I paid full price, I would expect the tails be docked. I personally wouldn't pay too much for a purebred Yorkie who is so off standard... I like the docked look.

| Dock or not the most important thing is if the dog will be loved or not . We rescued a mom and her 3 babies . Babies didn't had their tails docked and the found wonderful forever homes . Its not because a Yorkie have a full tail that he or she is not a purebred or not allowed for registration . |

| Although I love Lucy's full tail, people are often curious about it. Why does she have a tail they ask me? Once someone told said:" She is mix for sure, she got a long tail". lol. I am still laughing at that one when I think about it. So in my opinion, it might discourage some buyer since it isn't the standard. It can be hard sometimes to found GOOD family for your puppy. I refused already a lot of buyers for many different reason so I wouldn't want to have an even smaller group to pick from. I think I would leave the tail on ONLY if someone ask me for. Again, this is just my opinion of coarse. |

| Since it is the request of the new owner to be that they want the tail left I would leave it for them but would dock the others.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I docked my babies because silkies just like Yorkies have to conform to the dock standard, if I have a special request then that puppy does not get docked. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| I made my decision Thank you everybody for your imput. I have decided to stay within AKC standards and dock (except the one by special request) It is a difficult decision. I wish we could wait till they were older, more time for the forever familys to decide I am one that loves them either way. |
