| Fetal heartbeat has anyone heard them, how well can you hear them? How fast are they. I hear so many sounds, I'm not sure what I'm hearing. |

| Hearing that fetal heart beat is incredible! The fetal heart beats sound like Mom's heart beat but it is much faster - in fact it almost sounds like a soft, muted machine gun. When my expectant moms see me with the stetscope, they roll over on their backs and close their eyes - they know from experience that I will be ooogggllling over them for a long time. |

| They are a little softer sounding but much faster than momma's heart beat. They are pretty easy to detect though. Supposedly you can tell the sex of the puppies by listening to the heart beats. Boys have faster heart beats. I've haven't gotten that good at it yet as you really have to pay attention to each heartbeat but I still like trying to guess and see how close I was. Right now I can tell the two pups in her right horn are the same sex but not sure which and I can't even guess on her left horn as Destiny's pups are moving around too much and her stomach is making so much noise it's hard to concentrate.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I could only hear the heartbeat about 7 days before whelping. You listen closer to the rib area and not the middle of the belly....that is where I found mine.

| Love to listen to the heartbeats!!! It is fast but soft and very easy close to delivery time to sort out moms sounds from your little ones heartbeat!

| I think I am hearing it this morning. My daughter is an MA and she told me to use the smaller side of the bell. |

| I too love listening to them! I agree it's hard to tell anything much before a week prior to delivery and at first it's hard to tell how many but by the time I took Zoe in for her xrays at 58 days, the vet told me he saw 3 but I went home and listened again and I swore I heard 4 distinct heartbeats and one was a different beat then the others. Guess what? She had 3 boys and 1 girl. So I'm a believer! |
