| washable whelping pads? Does anyone use washable whelping pads for whelping and for puppies later? If so which one would you recommend. I am thinking with this new litter to give them a try, but am not sure which one would be good. Thanks for your replys Deb |

| For the actual whelping I buy a package of the disposable bed pads they sell at Wal-mart. They are in the area where the Depends are sold. Whelping can get messy so the disposable bed pads work great for absorbing all the fluids. We will usually put down a fresh pad after each pup is born. I also use them in the whelping box and as pee pads for the new momma for a few days after the pups are born then I switch to the washable pee pads. |

| I use the bundled white washrags from Wal Mart. That way I can removed them easier one at a time and not disturb Mom and newborns too much. I keep a plastic bag handy to put the soiled ones in and then just wash them when all is done. They are also the perfect size for wiping down a newborn if need be.

| I use the disposable pads from WalMart too....removing the soiled one after each pup. After all is done and mom is rinsed, I then put it a nice comfy pad that is wrapped with lambs wool. I keep about 2 dozen of these premeasured and made into a slip cover for the pad, changing them frequently and also putting a disposable pad between the cover and pad.

| I like this company...Valethics.com They make the best small pads for puppies..not into mega use of disposable pads myself..and when training pups, I do not like them to shred pads when contained in xpens and at night. Last edited by YorkieRose; 12-27-2009 at 10:36 AM. |

| Thanks guys for all the input. I have been out of town and haven't been able to get to the computer until now. I was planning on using the disposable ones for the acutal whelping and then when the puppies get bigger the reusable ones for their pen. I have in the past taped down the disposable ones on our tile floor to keep it clean, but hate throwing all that away everyday. My puppies are due the end of Jan. and am so looking forward to little paws around here. |
