| Have to travel...should I take pregnant mama? I am taking a road trip Dec 27 Jan 2. Day 60 of her gestation is Jan 6. I know she will probably (hopefully go until the 11th or 12th). I am debating taking her on the road with me. My choices right now are : 1) leave her home with my adult sons (they are 21 & 24). They work all day, so she will be alone during the day. or 2) take her with me in the car. It is a long drive, but she normally loves car rides and is content as long as she is with me. I tease my husband and say she is permanently attached to my hip. My gut feeling is to take her. My husband disagrees. I would love your two cents. As far as rearranging this trip-it is not an option. (Going to go visit an elderly parent who has advanced Alzheimers...we just can't skip this trip). And for those who will ask: yes we planned this litter and yes, I'm prepared. Thanks!

| We didn't plan Cabella's pregancy and 63 days from when we saw they hooked, her due date was Christmas day. I took Cabella with me on a 4 hour trip to TN and back along with her mate Joey. She looked like she would burst, but she enjoyed the trip as she has alot of room to roam there. If I left her here she would have been alone all day and just checked on by my daughter in the evening, so that wasn't an option. Cabella done fine with the birthing but we noticed she layed around more after the trip. This was probally due to her date was alot closer than we thought. The trip was about 1 to 2 weeks before the birth. Good luck in your decision, I know its hard. but I would just be sure to put her in a carrier or a laundry basket with soft blankets to stabelize her as much as possible. I strapped her in with the seat belt around the basket. We are in the delima of what to do at Christmas, my husband is worried about the puppies getting sick if we take them. I think he just wants to avoid going to my parents. It's supper cazy there, So he is offering to stay home with them, Isn't that just so sweet of him!!!ha ha |

| If I were in your position I would take her. I would not leave her if she is going to be alone at all.

Make sure you take all her whelping supplies, get a emergency number for a vet, make sure she's kept in a quiet enviornment. And should she have the pups while away remember to make sure you take every precaution with those pups coming home.

| I know it's not an option for you, but I wouldn't go. This is based on all the things that can and did happen with my last litter. But I hope all works out for you.

| We go on horse back rides, I take my girls with me, have for years, only had 1 to give birth while we was camping. We never go more then 2 hours from home, just in case. And I have my vets home and cell number with me at all times. I make sure I have everything I need in a big bag. We had a litter of 3 from a first time momma, she did a great job. On that particular ride we had a local vet riding with us. Momma was due til Tuesday and had them Sat. I still own one of the females.
