| small pups? A lady I have been talking to has a Momma Yorkie who had 4 pups. she ended up with some signs of the calcium defeciency and they had to bottle feed the pups. she had put the momma dog on rice and chicken and tofu, and the vet did tell her not to let the babies nurse.and she did and had to run Momma dog back to vet that next day. shes been bottle feeding plus feeding off the mom. she did end up losing one of the pups at about 2-3 days old. the other 3 are doing wonderful. I did tell her I would be scared to let mommy dog continue to feed them for she could become very ill and next time might not be good. as her vet has already told her. but she feels momma dog is now doing great and the pups are only feeding from her now. anyways the pups are now 4 1/2 weeks old and they are all close in weight around .54 I was wondering if anyone knew what these pups might weigh at adult age, I did look at the growth chart, but couldn't figure it out. |

You are right, these puppies are 4 weeks old and can lap from a plate. They can be fed a gruel of Goats Milk and Gerbers Rice Ceral with a bit of Karo Syrup. Mom shouldn't be nursing them as she has had two episodes of eclampsia..... Ask her if the life and health of girl is not important. Weight charts; toss them away. All is dependent on the lineage of these pups.......

I did send her the info on goats milk and gruel. Last edited by YorkieShadow; 12-02-2009 at 05:38 PM. | |

| Those poor puppies. IMO that is way too small. mine ae normall that weight at about 10 days. Once they start to eat on their own, they might take off. It's also possible that they have worms and need to be wormed when they are 5 weeks. |

| Oh my...1oz?! I don't know that I have ever heard of such a tiny one living...wow! Livi's were so tiny at 2oz., I cannot imagine what 1oz. would look like! After Liv had her c-section, my husband brought her and the puppies home and I was waiting at the door...SUPER anxious to see my new babies. I literally fell against the door and gasped because they were so incredibly tiny....I truly cannot even picture 1oz. |
