Thanksgiving babies??? Hi - Today is day 59 for my yorkie. Took her temp this after noon and it is 99.3. This is her 2nd litter and she delivered at day 61 last time. She is so quiet today. Is that okay, i think she may start labor tomorrow? Any thoughts. Thank you. Nancy

There is really know way of knowing for sure when she might have them. I have seen puppy watches drag on for many days. While it is more common for them to have the pups on days 61 thru 63, I have had some females deliver on days 59 and 60 over the years. Are the pups really active? How many times was she bred. It is not uncommon for them to rest a lot several days before the pups are delivered. Is this her first litter? I pray your momma has a safe whelping. Be sure to keep us updated.

| I felt like I was on puppy watch for a week straight this time! Sounds like you will be in for a long couple of days. Good Luck with your girl and I hope she has a fast and safe whelp!

Babies have arrived Babies arrived last nite, don't remember them whining so much. Mom did great, but unfortunately we had one stillborn little boy. Did all I could to revive him but I never saw life once i opened the sac. So sad.. But thank god the others seem ok.

Congrats on the new puppys!!!! I am still waiting. Day 65 the first breeding and day 63 the second breeding. She ate some dinner. Her temp has been at 99.2 for 5 days. When I got home from work she felt warm. So I took her temp and now she is 100.2. Any ideas on why this is happening. I kind of get worried about my baby. Her tummy is hard as a rock, babys are still moving around, How much longer can she possibly go before I take her to the vet. Last edited by blondschilli; 11-29-2009 at 05:15 PM.

Hi - She had 3 boys and 2 girls, they are doing well very loud and active. It is amazing the birthing, what a true miracle. They were born on day 62. Her first litter was day 61. She is doing wel, but tired. It is amazing how many bowls of water she has had today along with several meals. Thank you for all your support. Nancy

I am so sorry your momma is sick. It sounds like she has a uterus infection. She may have had some retained afterbirth. I always monitor my new moms temperature the first week after they have pups. Once the temperature goes over 102.5 they need to see a vet. If caught early the female can be put on a antibiotic and most likely will be okay but if left untreated too long it can lead to more serious problems. It is also possible your female had a ruptured uterus which would also cause some serious problems. I pray your momma and babies will be okay. Please keep us posted.
