| Feeding Mom My girl had her pups on sunday. All are doing fantastic! I have been so busy since then I will update tho in my other thread. -mom normally eats Merricks and the puppy version when she got pregnant. -about 3 weeks into preg she wouldn't eat it. I made her chicken, rice and mixed dry and wet. -pups are here and she is ALWAYS hungry. But...she won't eat the chicken or the dry or if I mixed wet in dry she spits out the dry. -I got a couple sample packs of other high quality puppy food. She will peridically eat those bits on their own. Or mixed. What do I do? I need her to eat good and proper. Do I buy a completly different dry pup food and let her switch? Is eating wet most of the day ok? I am baffled by what to do in order for her to get numerous small meals a day! Oh, one of her meals is a scrambled egg which she ATTACKS cause she loves it so much. Any and all advice would be great! Thanks! I will update them all in my other thread! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | have you tried, putting the dry food in the food processor and make it fine and then mixing it with the wet? i had to do that for my taffy when she went picky on me, and it worked..LOL she still got the right amount of food but i fooled her.. is worth a shot.. |

| Bella Boo is a very picky eater, I mix the Merrick Puppy Plate wet with the dry, and let it sit, so the dry food soaks up the gravy from the canned food, it might be worth a shot! Does she like the whelping pudding? Maybe you could mix that in with the dry.

| Do whatever it takes....I've resorted to spoon feeding, gerber rice cereal, goats milk and grinding up puppy kibble and adding it to the mixture...adding a bit of Karo Syrup.

| Went out and bought the rice cereal. She hates it, lol. Ugh, I suppose I will try smashing up the dry and then putting that in wet. Any other food ideas? Other than eggs, chicken or rice.... |

| My girl has always been a picky eater (literally just eats here and there throughout the day- not much at all), and was always used to eating the dry. Since her getting pregnant, I began to add the wet food to make sure she was eating plenty. I keep her kibble down and still feed her wet meals throughout the day. I also supplement her meals with whelping pudding, which she loves. Have you at least given her the pudding, I haven't heard of any dog turning that down yet. lols BTW, Congrats on the babies. How many did she have? Boys, girls? Pictures? I hope you get some time soon to post.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I had to resort to the Lil Ceasr meals. I know it is not a high quality food but she eats it and at this point she needs food whatever she will eat. I can also get her to eat the Natural Balance roll food. I mix it with a little cottage cheese. I try to sneak some kibble in there but she picks it out..lol have you tried hand feeding her the chicken? If I hand feed Tara will eat almost anything.

Any sample bag of other high quality foods...with the exception of one....she will gobble down. Is it bad if they eat different kibbles? | |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | oh I agree, she needs to eat, Marc, would she eat wet food alone? my girls LOVE wet food alone, even tho it causes their stool a bit pudding like I don't care, i just mixed a bit of pumkin with it and let them eat it, have you tried that? |

| I agree with what others have told you.... I've had girls that have huge appetites when pregnant and any other time......but, all of a sudden after puppies are born, well their taste buds are non existant......I've resorted to everything.......Setting up a cafeteria in my kitchen....trying this and trying that....force feeding, you name it, I've tried. Gerbers chicken sticks...home cooking, even Lil Ceasars......Give her whatever she'll take.

| She won't eat the wet on its on. Periodically I can get her to eat it with crushed dry in it. She loves eggs and any other kibble other than her normal one. I forgot about the pumpkin! I could try adding a bit of that! |

| When I first adopted Bella Boo, she didn't want to eat anything, but she did gobble up the Ceasar wet food, then when she was more comfortable she would eat Iams mixed in with it. Both crappy foods, but atleast she was eating Now she happily eats her Merrick Puppy (wet & dry ), I hope she does after she has the babies, but it sounds like they get pretty finicky so ... Wish me luck lol
