59 days pregnant My yorkie tied three times July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. She has been showing all the signs of pregnancy. My vet does not believe in x-rays unless he believes there a potential problem. I live in the country so I don't have many choices when it comes to vets. If my girl is pregnant she is on her 59th day. Her temp goes up and down. She is between 100.8 and 99.3. She has milk and her tummy is swollen. However, she is my first girl that I have not been able to feel the pups. She is a bigger yorkie, but I am worried because I don't feel movement. I am contacting the vet tomorrow, but this is bugging me to no end. This will be her first litter. My other yorkies are 5 and 6 pounds, so feeling movement isn't an issue. Thank you in advance for any advice.

| If you really want the x-ray tell the vet so, especially if your having doubts. My girl is still 3 weeks away and I have yet to see any movement (should here soon I hope). Good luck with the vet, and your girl.

I am going to try to be adament about an xray. I get talked out of it every time. My smallest girl is 5lbs. and he wouldn't give me an xray for her. You would think he would want to know. I am quite frustrated. They tend to get over booked so I think they just put me off.

If your vet won't do an xray what about an ultrasound? It will tell you if their are live puppies. It's harder to get a count and you can't really get sizes but you should be able to see a heartbeat.

I will ask about an ultrasound. They are one of very few vets around here. I really think they get over booked and don't want to fool with it. With my last litter they barely fit me in to get the tails docked and dew claws removed. I am going to be very insistant. I need to know if she is pregnant. If it is a false pregnancy it will be hard for her because at 59 days she is acting very pregnant. She is nesting. Although I have a whelping box, she has become very fond of my hamper.

| She can go 63 days, three days after the last tie and still have got preggers. It is 63 days from when the eggs drop and the sprem can live three days. Ours dropped her temp three days before she had her pups and she nested and passed a whole week before. The vet should be able to feel if there is a pup, JL

So I called the vet this morning. She was reluctant to schedule an xray and tried to talk me out of it. I told her I need to know whether this is a false pregnancy or not. I need to know whether or not to be prepared for a pup or pups. She did schedule me in today. Hooray!!! For the sake of my girl I hope she is pregnant. She has all the symptoms. Beings she has went through to almost 63 days, I know she will morn the loss of not having any pups!!

How does this "false" pregnacy work exactly? They gain weight...make milk...and try to deliver though there is nothing there to deliver?

Ok...so we are back from the vet. We did not end up getting an xray. However, the vet did a very good check of her and said that she is absolutely not pregnant. She said she could feel her uterus and there was not anything in there. She was very surprised that she had milk come in as she said she has never had a dog go that far into a false pregnancy. I feel bad for my girl. Thank you for the advice!!

When a dog goes into heat their horomone levels go up. Even if they aren't bred the level may stay up making the dog's body think she is pregnant. My little one even produced milk. Eventually the levels will go back to normal.

[QUOTE= Well, I am sorry to hear she is not PG. Hope you are not too disappointed and hope that she does not feel the loss of having no pups. You may want to watch her closely through the end of the 63 days.............just in case you have a surprise. I've seen it happen before.[/QUOTE] I was thinking the same thing!!! It would be a nice surprise. I am worried how she is going to react to not having any pups.
