| Breeder fails to show mother I thought(stress thought!) I was buying a puppy from this woman Ms.Graves & she fails to show me the dam of the pups! I am running far from her, I'll bet she is a broker. I asked her why & her answer is that Mom doesn't like people. Doesn't make sense. Why could she be doing it? If I'm buying a pup from someone, I'd like to atleast meet the dam so I can see what she looks like outside of glossy froo-froo photos & see what her temperament is like!!

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | You made the right choice, keep looking. You want to see the dam and the stud both if possible. |

I would be very nervous with that so you made the right decision. WHen it comes down to it you have to think of why she doesn't like people. Is it just that she wasn't socialized as a puppy, is she being mistreated(backyard breeder anyone) or is it another reason. I would have done the same thing you did and walked right away!

If a breeder fails to show you the dam, she either doesn't have her on the premises, she really doesn't like people which is possibly due to non-socialization or bad temperament, or she is UGLY as sin (possibly very large) and afraid if you see the mother you won't want the puppy. And most traits in dogs and animals in general are genetic. I always call the people I sell puppies to checking up on them to make sure they are doing alright and everyone is getting along well. If a breeder doesn't do that, they are out for the money and don't care about the dogs irregardless of whether they show their dogs or are classified as a backyard breeder. Good luck | |
