| Yes you do. In my first litter, I left Diva's hair about 4 inches long, and just shaved her belly. I was horrified to go in to check on her one day, have her stand up and not see the puppy. A quick check and I found the baby tangled in her hair hanging from her side. Thankfully I was there to rescue him, but it could have been tragic. Her milk had leaked and caused her hair to stick together and he got caught in it. This time I gave Diva a short cut. Hair will grow back. It's not worth losing a baby over. |

| I also used to just shave their bellies so the babies could find the teats. I have found two puppies, two different mama's with puppies dangling from the hair on the side and one under the chin with mamaa bouncing everywhere on the side of the x-pen trying too get out. some people try to braid the side hair to save it. |

| Hair I'm with Sugar's Mom.... Long hair can give you some problems, so it is best to shave her belly prior to delivery and make sure she doesn't have long hair under the chin / chest.... |

| Yeah, I tried just shaving the tummy and the little male got caught in momma's neck hair. He was hanging by the neck! Thank goodness I found him and saved him. That could have been disastrous. Not worth the risk.
